this is our veg patch, its looks a bit barren! its been very rushed as we only moved in a couple of weeks ago, luckily we dug it out as we had put grass seed down just as we moved in. to be honest OH did most (ok probably all) of it, not had time to grow everything from seed, so he stuck in plants we bought locally, cabbage/cauli/leeks, spuds to go in this week and onions too, somehow we forgot about carrots
i have some pea seeds so going to grow in grow bags next to it. the funny brown stuff you can see is seaweed!:D we pulled it up fresh from the sea, its drying out now. our first veggie patch so we'll see how we do. i'm growing tomatoes and peppers too (indoors) fingers crossed!
totally a tog!:D0 -

thanks, yes i've seen rabbits over by the other side of the house, so we were gonna put up a fence with that green plastic stuff but when OH went to get some it was dearer than he thought! (was almost £5 a metre!) so we're gonna try and blag some i think, or find an alternative?totally a tog!:D0 -
PositivelyMummy - I'm envious of your big patch but where is it? Judging by all that blue sky it looks as if it's on the top of a hill or the edge of a cliff and if you walk up to the posts, you'll fall off the edge of the world !!0

Try going to your Barber and getting some hair. Place the hair around the plants you don't want Buggs eating. If that doesn't work try going to a dog groomer and getting some hair from them....it should work.....one of them:TFive exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

ah ha! just camera trickery! well i feel as though i am on the edge of the world sometimes!:D i'm in shetland, the water is classed as a loch, but its fed from the sea so its a salt water loch (hence the seaweed in it!) and fortunately the drop is only about 12 feet (phew safe enough for me to venture out in the wind):D this is a clearer pic.totally a tog!:D0 -
You might want to start thinking about some kind of windbreakFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Positively - wow! What a view! Working against that landscape backdrop must make even the dreariest weeding chore a pleasant task. But I imagine the winds really do rattle across it in winter (and summer !) so if you can construct some windbreaks it really will protect your tender crops going forward. How lovely to get all that free seaweed fertiliser. I've read that it's seaweed which helps give Jersey new potatoes their distinctive taste. If so, you should be able to grow some fine ones. Good luck with your efforts.0
