Wow! Fantastic! How long have you been creating your veg plot and garden? It looks wonderful! :T :T :T

I'm just beginning to reclaim my garden now the kids are off to Uni. Been a cricket/football pitch for years with our fruit trees as extra fielders/defenders! Getting there slowly! :D

    Thanks positivelymummy!

It's the second year for my little veg patch and fruit border. The greenhouse was bought secondhand from the FreeAds last March and has been a real boon. Lots of the baskets/patio pots are filled with self-seeded plants bought last year or the year before as reduced items in B&Q!

I was inspired to do it all by reading this forum and that's also how I found out my poor raspberries had a virus and needed to come up!

The wealth of experience and expertise on here is a great help and I would recommend it to anyone starting out. ;)

I do like seeing photos of other peoples' veggie patches & greenhouses. You can tell how much effort has gone in behind the scenes and in keeping them lovingly cared for. And there's always that element of friendly competition to check whether their plants are doing better than yours. Keep them coming please!

Wow so very envious of the success of your veggies, we only have a small garden, since hubby became a s.e. gardner his flower bed has grown! My veg patch has now been allocated a smaller area approx 6ft x 8ft, got potatoes in tubs but everything is going very slow this year, everything being eaten, (sure he's given all slugs and bugs a map to my veg patch and away from the flowers lol !) Think this is going to be my worst year every with veggies so please keep those pictures coming to inspire me to keep trying!

Sad to have to say this, but you all put my small effort to shame.

But as it is my first year, I am going to learn from you all, what goes wrong this year, so I get it right and do more next year.

    Lovely photos.

    Morning all

Kazwookie... I think its always going to be trial and error for me no matter how long I have been doing it :rotfl:
This is my second year growing my own..but my first one out here in Germany -so im waiting to see how there seasons compare to ours ;)
Im trying loads of things i haven't tried to grow before.... so like you its a fingers crossed and hope for the best :p ..and i will know what NOT to try next year...

BabyKat... nice to see someone else with a potio apotment ...it looks great :T

Well everyone.. I have had to re shuffle lots of my tubs n pots to make sure that what needs the most sun can get it...and move 2 tubs of potatoes as they were growing like crazy..so they have had to go up with the 2 dustbins im growing them in too... so here are a couple of pics of the new potio apotment... hubby keeps saying it looks like a garden centre :rotfl: I haven't got pics of everything out there but here is what i have :-

Im really happy as not only have i got loads of flowers on my broad beans -I have covered them just to make sure the black fly don't get at em ;) I know its a bit early for them to be a real problem ...but im not risking it :D
Some of my courgettes are full of flower too ..and this morning 1 is open :j

Most things are out of the house now....apart from the sweet potatoes that im growing slips off...well i have 4 slips planted outside to see how they settle... but i have counted another 30+ slips growing off the ones upstairs  .... just hope they work as this is a bit of an experiment...
I have to confess to also setting some more broad beans, yellow beans..well you can never have too many.... can you? :rotfl:

keep up the great work everyone..i love seeing what everyone is doing :D

We all start off small, its much better to learn what you are doing first rather than going large scale first, unless you have experienced advice on hand to help, then you only make a mess of a smaller area :D

I am absolutely amazed what you can get into a small bed, on the first page of the thread you can see a link to my DD's small bed, its about 1 m square and now it is totally full. It has a block of dwarf peas, a block of dwarf french purple beans, little gem lettuces, french marigolds, a row of french carrots, a row of white beetroot, 2 climbing french beans with 2 six foot canes.......... and a gardeners delight tomato plant.
I think you will agree, not bad for a metre square plot.

Am loving this thread ! :j

Just got to wait a while before I post my pictures (bit late getting started due to moving house last year and having to prep the garden !) Things are coming along nicely now though and I finally feel like i'm getting somewhere (who said this gardening lark was easy  !)

We're off for a few days break next week so hoping that everything will be ok. Have got a couple of water trays and matting so going to sit most things on that. Also bought a bag drip irrigation thing for my courgettes and gherkins (have tried it last week and it works great !) Chillis and peppers will come indoors so no risk of them 'burning' in the greenhouse (that's if we get any nice weather next week ! hahah) Tomatoes should be ok (in a fairly shady spot in the greenhouse and in big buckets so should retain the water quite well).

Think we've got everything covered - fingers crossed - I will be devastated if we get home and everything has died ! lol :o
