I'm lurking on here looking at all your nice veg plots - you're all doing very well! I will post some of my own at some point, but mine is a lot further behind than all of yours, tho' I did have my first new potatoes y'day.

See - before you yank jup your tomato plants, is there anything further down the stem you can save? You might be able to get some flowering sideshoots which will crop later? If not I guess it's down to the garden centre to get some more, but as it's now getting towards the end of the selling season for them to sell tomato plants it's worth haggling with them to see if they'll give you a reduction. (It's better that they make a little money rather than throwing them on their giant compost heaps, which is what a lot of garden centres have to do with unsold plants which have a limited shelf life).
Incidentally with peppers and aubergines, if the tops are accidentally snapped off, will sprout again from side shoots lower down. I accidentally snapped off the stems of two pepper plants half way down when moving them. They've resprouted and are now bearing their first flowers at the same time as the remaining tall peppers, so there's always hope !

Ok I have calmed down now, and been for a proper look, (now I am dressed) not as bad as I thought, toms are back upright and look ok, time will tell, spuds are ok. Cucumber still looks sick, but then it did look sick before the storm, I think it is cold.

Been very windy here today but nothing is damaged. I do envy those of you already enjoying your veg.........we've yet to taste anything but the runner beans and tomatos are floweing. Courgettes were fairly small plants so think they might take a while and OH only put the carrots in a week ago. Must be patient.

I sowed them from seed which is why they were outside, I sowed the whole packet, and my greenhouse is full:o so, outside they went:A

My sweetcorn is looking a bit 'bent' due to the winds we've had today, and it was in the most sheltered part of the garden ! Just hope it recovers and grows straight !

Tomatoes are now starting to form where flowers have been and our courgette plants are going pretty mad (had 2 courgettes last night and got another 6 forming)! I've also got 6 gherkin plants (in the greenhouse - since found out they shouldn't really be in there) but they are doing very nicely and there are absolutely loads of little gherkins forming. We'll be ok for pickles this Xmas !

Flowers just appearing on runner beans (dwarf beans seem to be a bit slow though  ). We have a few raspberries ripening (new cuttings this year so shouldn't really be any fruit on them but i'm not arguing !) Got a few flowers on our peppers too that have fully opened (can see mini peppers growing inside :D ).

Best thing of all though is my lemon tree that I bought a few weeks ago now has 9 flowers on ! :D Take a while before they're ready though :rotfl: - might have a lemon to have with the G&T at Xmas if we're lucky ! :p

JTB2412- are your raspberries in the garden, or a container?
I'd love to get a raspberry bush or two for my balcony a-pot-ment, but I've been told raspberries are not suitable for containers.

Do you - or anyone else on here - know different?
