Bexbex, did you plant the seeds in the bottles while the bottoms were still on and then turn them up and cut the bottoms off?
It'd be great if you could give a quick run down of how you did it as I thought I may do it next year. I've seen the guide for the upside down buckets ut thought I could maybe use milk bottles as we always have an abundance of them!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Bexbex, I too am intrigued by your tomatoes in upside down bottles. Which variety are your growing because most plants end up so large that I wouldn't have imiagined that the roots could be contained in such a small space, or are you growing one of the "Tumbler" types suitable for hanging baskets?0

On the tomato front, when it says "pinch out the growing tip above the fourth truss" does this mean "above the fourth lot of flowers/buds" or do I wait until I can actually see baby tomatoes before pinching the tomato plant?
My furthest-along tomato plant is still well behind SEE's, obviously! (Super clear pics, incidentally. Like a lesson in veggie-culture. Thanks.)0 -
Very nice photos, but please either do links or much smaller photos, its a nightmare to load.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I've only had one courgette, a strawberry I couldn't resist popping in my mouth whilst watering the plants and some thinnings of salad leaves. Everything else seems way off yet. Kaat you will be eating yours when all mine have gone!0
