I've tried cooking all sorts of things on mine and the only not quite succesful thing was an egg! I had to wedge up the grill so the egg didn't run down the griddles which kind of deafeated the object! :rolleyes:0 -

hi , ive just bought my 1st GF
im really nervous about not knowing if things are cooked through
do you keep opening and prodding to see? i know meat juices should run clear but what about fish fingers or nugget type stuff
also(sorry)when putting a little olive oil on plates how do you do it
i thought with a bit of kitchen roll? how much do you put on? thanks0 -

I have just received through Freecycle an almost new George Foreman grill (the Lean Mean Fat Reducing grilling machine!) It is the large family size one, and with 2 teenagers and a partner who loves his food I am sure it will come in handy.
I have used it a couple of times for bacon etc, but have no idea what else to cook in it! Can you do toasted sandwiches in it? And what about myself, I am vegetarian so other than quorn type burgers and sausages, I am not sure what else I could cook in it for me?
Any other suggestions would be most gratefully received! Thanks0 -

it'll make lovely toasted sandwiches & paninis, the sandwich edges don't seal though, so practice with not too runny fillings at first
I also do grilled vegetables, peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, slices of red onion, anything you like really. toss them in a little oil & pop them on the grill, putting the ones that take longest to cook on first & add things like mushrooms last. if the top plate's not touching the veg & you're worried about even cooking, you can turn or stir them
they're also good for hash browns & any frozen things that come in batter or crumbs, it's scary the amount of oil that drips out of them!0 -
I always prop the feet up on my chopping board to make it more horizontal when toasting sarnies - cuts down on the ooze factor.
I do think it makes lovely toasties and panninis though cos I don't like the concrete edges you get with a breville type.0 -

I use the chopping board too :T Stops everything wanting to slide out the sarnie!! I Agree about the edges, it makes lovely toasties.
We could probably use ours more really. Toasteis, sausages, burgers, fish fingers, bacon is about all we use it for. I'll try veg on it and some of the recipes in the top link, my son would love the pitta pizzasEven if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

I know I am behind the times, but have just got a new gas hob/oven, And I sooooo want to keep it clean, soooooo I was thinking would a gf grill help, by cooking things like beefburgers /bacon etc, what do you think?0
