I won a George Foreman grill earlier this year, but until yesterday hadn't used it. My oven is a combined one and I wanted to cook steak and potato wedges so decided to try the George out. It was great. The steak was just under an inch thick and cooked through within ten minutes (I like mine cooked all the way through but not burnt) and stayed really juicy. I'll definitely be using it again with some of the suggestions here :D

I bought a GF grill and never used it - it's still sitting in the cupboard now!!!

I did buy a George Foreman mini rotisserie though. It's called a 'Baby George'. I got it from the catalogue (when I still had one!) a few years ago now and it's the best gizmo I ever got. I always cook my chicken it it and they taste better than the shop bought ones that they inject with saline (have you ever wondered why they sell normal and extra tasty and what makes the extra tasty ones extra tasty???). I also do kebabs, veggies, jacket spuds in it too and they taste great. Dunno if you can still buy them now though
  • I just got one as a belated wedding present - I'll try a few of the things out on it!
I'm veggies, but DH isn't so I'll try and encourage him to cook his meat on it - he normally doesn't have meat in the house as I won't touch or cook it.

I love my Formby - when you're trying to watch your weight it is so inspiring to see the little tray fill up with fatty gunk, even off things you think can't have a lot of fat in them. Love it so much I bought one for my mum and dad and my ex OH as well for Christmas!

I love my George Foreman - don't know what I'd do without it!

I've got wooden and metal skewers, which I use to make kebabs, with various types of meat and vegetables. If we fancy a big 'fry up' the bacon and sausages get done on the grilling machine, thus reducing the heart attack factor.

And on lazy night (like tonight) I like nothing better than grating a bit of cheese, slicing some onion, and making myself a toastie - delicious!
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!

Last night I cooked some chipolatas and the skin shrivelled away and burnt, has anyone else has had that problem? Does anyone have any remedies?

(The sausages still got eaten and the rest are being used in a sausage, tomato and potato pie today).

HI, I have a load of chicken wings in a freeer bag in my fridge which have been marinating for a day. I was going to blast them in my oven for 20 mins but am now thinking of popping them in my GF. Do you think that would be ok? I guessing the will take 4- 5 mins?

Can't find one in the search engine, so sorry if I've missed it.

I've treated myself to a mini Hyundai grill, same sort of thing as the GF ones, and am new to what you can and can't do.

First two questions - (1) can you use them to make toasties? (2) can you put frozen burgers on them, or do they have to be defrosted first?

Thanks for any answers, and any other useful tips!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

    (1) Yes
    (2) Check the instructions on the burger packet - if it says cook from frozen by grill you should be ok.
