George Foreman - What do you cook?

we love our 'george'. I have done chops and we always do burgers on them. Definatly a real eye opener the amount of fat that is allowed to drain out...

ahhh - I love my George and it did me a huge favour! OH always argued that cheap sausages tasted just as good as the expensive ones. the first time I used the George I did his 'cheapy' sausages - then called him into the kitchen to see what actually came out of them! OMG you wouldn't believe the gray scummy crud! OH went white and said 'throw those in the bin and put some burgers on' (possibly expecting George to put him off burgers for life) - I did and the very nice quarter pounders came out beautifully! he never, ever bought cheap sausages again!
oh and salmon is lovely cooked on the George! oil both sides of the salmon (you have to remember the George cooks both sides at once), and season - it will take about five mins! and its so easy to clean - I just used to squeeze a wet sponge over the plates then wipe them!0 -
I am a new George convert, got one recently from Lidl and its already been used loads. Sausages, chicken, burgers all come out lovely. I did bacon medallions on it just using the bottom half and they cooked fab.
Wish I had bought a George before!0 -
If the government were serious about healthy eating they would give every family one of these.
As said when you see the amount of fat you would have eaten, to say it opens your eyes is an understatement.
They also open up your taste buds as now you can enjoy the flavour of the food as opposed to the fat.Be happy...;)0 -
I do halloumi cheese in mine, also sliced vegetables (all cut to the same thickness). You can toss the veggies in a marinade first of all before cooking on the George. (Little olive oil, lemon juice or vinegar, garlic, chilli...whatever you like). Lovely served up in a fajita.0

Little tip for cleaning the George. As soon as you have finished cooking, switch it off and place some damp kitchen roll over the plate. Close the lid...making sure the drip tray is in place. Once you have finished eating, it is so easy to wipe up.
You could of course use a damp cloth instead, I just can't be doing trying to get the really dirty cloths clean, as am all for an easy life.0 -
Isn't a normal grill just as good/healthy?
I've had these Goerge Formby type grills before and ended up getting rid because of clutter and trying to keep them clean etc.
This thread is tempting me to buy another one and give it another try as we are on a health kick this year.0 -
Used it last night and was surprised what came out of the sausages especially as they were good quality 85% meat ones.
It will be healthier and easier for me as I don't use my grill for meat (ever since it caught light and I nearly burnt the kitchen down ) So I have been cooking my sausages in the oven. However when I did use the grill I don't see that it makes that much difference to the george as I cooked on a wire grill rack and all the fat dripped down in the grill pan its self (isn't that the same as the george does? only you can see it more clearly)0 -
