i absolutely adore mine it is so much easier to do smaller meals on when its just me or just feeding the kids

chicken breasts stuffed with cheese and bacon
    paniinis (sp?)
    sasauges
    burgers
    pork loin cuts
    tuna
    salmon
nuggets (for those days i just cba to cook)
    waffles
    grilled veggies
    onions for burgers
fruit - grilled pineapple is yum
    kebabs

Fab ideas thanks. Do you cook frozen nuggets on it? Does anyone know if it would be cheaper for me to use the george or the oven (gas) for things like nuggets etc?

I love pineapple will def give that a try :)
  • The thread about kitchen gadgets has made me think about how little I use my George F grill. I only use it to occasionally make toasties, and even that's not often because I am coeliac and gluten free bread is expensive  (I do make my own bread, but it's not usually a sandwich loaf). What else can I use it for? I really don't want to leave it sitting in the cupboard. It was a gift from my mum and I'm sure she paid about 90 quid for it a few years ago. Hmm

You could grill most veg on there..peppers, asparagus etc.

And halloumi cheese. (assuming you have a veggie halloumi of course.)

(I do make my own bread, but it's not usually a sandwich loaf)

We put bread rolls in it (stuffed with cheese, chutney, tomatoes, jalapenos, whatever) and squish them down for tasty panini. Would your bread squish?

Quorn fillets and burgers do well in it, but are maybe not gluten free.
  • I've done
    Chicken
    Fishfingers (frozen)
    Cod in breadcrumbs (frozen)
    Chicken nuggets (frozen)
    Oven chips
    Veg
Love browsing my meat/chicken on it for curries to o in the slow cooker after.
I use this and the sc as my oven a gas and its cheaper for To use these.

I use mine mainly for fish and chicken - they cook it very quickly and it stays lovely and moist.
I also have a bit of a thing for banana pittas now - sliced banana in a pitta bread, give it a good squish down in the George Forman, yummy.
I have cooked peppers in it as well but not as successful.

Little tip for cleaning the George. As soon as you have finished cooking, switch it off and place some damp kitchen roll over the plate. Close the lid...making sure the drip tray is in place. Once you have finished eating, it is so easy to wipe up.

You could of course use a damp cloth instead, I just can't be doing trying to get the really dirty cloths clean, as am all for an easy life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you :T:j:T

Why did I not think of that?! After reading your post, I made some bacon and mushrooms on the GF and did what you suggested, wet some paper towel and stuck it on, closed the lid and then went back and cleaned in about 30 seconds! I usually fiddle about with a cloth or a sponge and they get all yucky and you need to rub quite hard. This was so easy...

I find it good for 'toasting' tortilla wraps. One of our favourites is some kind of chicken, cubed and left to marinade (e.g. buffalo sauce) - cook this on the GF, then put in the centre of a wrap with coleslaw. Fold all 4 sides over, and toast on the GF. Gives the wraps a crisp shell to your lovely chicken filling.
