If you don't like the idea of pay and reclaim...
I have just renewed my breakdown cover with[glow=blue,2,300] FULL cover[/glow] (repair, home start, and recovery) for [glow=blue,2,300]£79!!! [/glow]... [glow=red,2,300]saving £40 - £70[/glow] compared to RAC / Direct Line / AA prices!
It's with Tesco (Greenflag) http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
That's still £20 more expensive than quotelinedirect (euro assistance) which also covers you for 90 days in europe.0

A good point from the judge, you should always try and eliminate duplicate cover from different policies if you can. Not only can you get a discount it also helps if you have to claim - insurers can be quite slippery if they think you are insured elsewhere.0

AUTO AID is a brilliant policy had it for 6 years paying £23 for the first 3 or 4 years saved £350 in the first18 months, including a full family of 4 recovery M6 lancaster area back to Durham at midnight. Had the cheque and cleared in my account before the credit card bill arrived. Only regret not telling you all about it last month when i remembered we had it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I don't know. I have never had to use one, how do they normally work?0
-
Nor have I,but can`t say I would be happy with less than a freephone number.
If its the case that you have to use a 01277 number, I won`t be joining AutoAid.0 -
Suerly the cheapest money saving option for breakdown policies is not to join one, if possible, are there any breakdown companies you can join instantly on the spot when and IF you do break down ?0
-
It certainly used to be the case that the AA or RAC (or both not sure which) would let you join at the point of breakdown.
I am not sure whether this is still the case as it was a few years ago I heard about this.
Personally I think it's taking a chance when there are policies around for £28.
What happens if they change their policy the day before you breakdown and they won't do it?0 -
Hi
Don't know about the RAC but its not the AA. They won't come out if you have a breakdown within a couple of days of taking out the cover.
