hello all! How have pepys fared?!! Empty purse you BAD girl (I assume you are a girl?!!) forgetting so early in the day! Not sure what that says about me as I woke with fear & trepidation thiking why did I think of doing this!! Of course you are forgiven on both counts - at the end of the day as long as you try but are sensibel then I dont have an issue - ie not doing it & having to pay more for a ticket would NOT be money saving would it & as thats the end goal we do need to be sensible dont we eh! So forgiveness from me!
Well lots of posts in the day!! Well done all that have done it, joined later and regigged meal plans! In my book its fairly impressive to have a meal plan!
Weele PM on the way in a mo! I should point out that I caught up at work and was most excited about the prospect of my own spreadsheet which meant that my collegues took the p*** out of me for much of the day but I really dont care & fully ack that I am officially a sad bunny! I'm baking them a cake as I type but they dont deserve it do they eh!!
So for me! I havent spent a penny (well this kind of penny!!) although did realise that I will have to get the iron out which will be a bit drastic!! My late visit was cancelled so didn have to get petrol so will get that tomorrow. Did realise that I do need T-shirts/tops but will wait until next week. Also didnt go for a wander at lunch time as realise that I would have bee tempted! Also didnt cave & buy ciggies on the way home so chuffed with that! So 1 day no spending and 4 days not smoking so far! (or drinking!) so quite chuffed!! Off to hunt out weezles spreadsheet so that I can see what I need to do. Very exciting!

Evening all, Me and In Search Of Me have had a little thinking and i put across to her that next week we should carry on this thread BUT Maybe set ourselfs a certain target of how much we will spend..and carry it on the following week and so on.. so this week we are all aiming to spend a big fat ZERO..next week my aim might be dont spend over £20..then next week bring it up a knotch to £30.

Anyways just a idea we both had. Let us know what you all think :)

    Evening everyone,

Well I haven't managed the no spend yet as I had already promised to take little ones to a plaything that was supposed to be free at local park yesterdau but all the rides weren't free suprise suprise:mad: but I had already promised it before doing the no spend week so had to let them have a couple of £'s each! Have spent £4.50 on food but was allowing myself £50 food anyway so not doing too bad! My biggest thing is ebay so I shall not even be brwosing this week(ok well not much anyway:o )

umm...daisy I'm not sure if you understood that the idea of the thread was not to spend money...now I wouldnt EVER say that you should let kids down cos you shouldnt but the whole idea was that pepys would use food they had in the house rather than buying anything...Would it be worth you doing a shop maybe & joinig us later in the week so you dont feel you failed before you started IYKWIM? When you say your biggest thing is ebay do you mean buying or selling on it?!! Sellings fine cos youre making dosh but buying is effectievly spending so in terms of this challenge should be avoided! I realise its hard (& dont I know it! Came out in a cold sweat this am!!) but I know I can do it!
Hugs for you better late than never! Do you have any lozenges or patches? Regardless can otally understand the climing the walls. Try & keep busy cos its distracts you for a bit & you forget you could kill for a ciggy!
Friend for coffee dilemma sorted - she is coming here for food (& bringing pudding!!) yum yum! so no moey going out there! Cunning plan eh!!

    Hi out there :hello:

Reporting back on my very first NSD and was much harder than I imagened

Was on a course today and this am was arguing with myself that I really needed to buy a D Coke whilst there. Obviously could manage with a packed lunch but no D Coke  .

In the end I took a bottle of water (fresh from the tap!) and availed myself to all the freebie tea and coffee :j.

Just shows how used I am to spending without thought.

Oh and my boss at work officially thinks I am mad now :D was explaning about this challenge and she was really concerned I was short of money and offered to lend me some or give me some extra shifts. Then just gave me a look of total confusion and pity when attempting to explain why I was doing this :rotfl:

Sorry for the waffle and roll on tomorrow

GOt to do an egg count so that I can plan in my baking and meals for the rest of the week!

Does anyone use a sauce base rather than an egg base for quiche? that would make the eggs go further. I'm determined not to shop for food.

Just seen your post, but what does a food dehydrator do? and what types of food to you use it for?

Hope you don't mind me asking, but I have never heard of them.:embarasse

    Hi Kaz!

It dries out little pieces of food like banana slices, tomatoes, mushrooms, berries, I cannot wait for it to turn up, hopefully tomorrow! I will be doing apple slices first as I have a few that have lasted well in the lakeland green bags (which are wonderful) going to use it to preserve some of the fruit and veg I get in the organic box, we use most of it fresh though.

They were talked about in more detail on D & DDs "feeding a family of 5 from the pantry" thread.

Today, apart from a pre booked and very necessary appointment for shaggy puppy with the groomer, has been quite successful as a nsd for me as I have a sore head so not been out to shop, I made up some hummous from the tinned chickpeas, some garlic helper (no fresh garlic:o) tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin and paprika. dinner was some breaded haddock and a kohl rabi and potato gratin followed by a fresh fruit salad. Snacks were a fruit smoothie using up some of the box fruits and rock cakes from yesterdays baking. I managed to make a weetabix cake for the packed lunches. Need to make another loaf of bread, for the hummous sandwiches, tomorrow to avoid the shops!
