Minimal/no spend week (£0for me) 18 May!

Week 3
Week 2 was a bit of a disaster as I panic bought for n spend week ths week! Definately doig better with week, rather than month, chunks! Easier to digest!

Week 2!
Well I've almost done it - one day to go & other than petrol (allowed as need it to get to work!) & stamps to send my circle journal have spent nowt although may need to get some medicinal coke (as in cocacola!!) as have had a migraine & nowt else is working & its one of the proven solutions!!! Week two will be a minimal spends rather than no spends week! I'm out of some stuff & need dried cat food which is £7/8 a bag so this week I'll go for £25 me thinks but not including clothes as I need (not want, do need!) some summer clothes that fit...other than that no fags & no wine & no red bull!!

Week 1
Well have decided that I am going to try for a no spent week! I need a couple of bits like washing up liquid hich I'll get today but other that that have enough food to feed a small family for a week or two (& its just me & 3 cats!!) so will see if I can do it! Anyone want to join me?!
I may (actually no will!) need some support along the way as do recognise that shopping still remains psychological/emotional for me in that, despite being a DFW for nearly 2 years, I still "need" to shop but now do it for groceries rather than tat!!
This IS, I am sure actually going to be quite tough but I also thik necessary! The GB is the last bastion of emtional shopping for me and is frustratingly slow to crack! I'll report honestly about how I am feeling as think its partly that that makes me shop when I know I have enough food to last - panic and seige mentality spring to mind!!
Being an all or nothing kind of girl I am also giving up smoking (as hugely resent paying £5.7+ for killing myself) & trying to drastically cut down on alch as it makes me feel rubbish plus, thanks to weezle usda challenge getting more knowledge on nutrition and reading through the nutrition bible which so far makes sence! So its gonna be a tough week! I hope some will join me & will celebrate with me a week today with a glass of wine! Well theres got to be some reward element & I'm not applying for sainthood!!

Although I'd love to join in, and for the past 5 days we have been having storecupboard/freezer meals, I know there are essentials we need.....toilet rolls, deodrant, booze (the third one isn't strictly essential.), which I'll get delivered from Tesco if I can find a working code.

Anyway, good luck and I'll pop back with moral support.

I'll leave my Tesco shop as long as poss, so it'll be almost like I'm doing a no spend week.

Well, I'd like to join in, but will limit to no food spends if I can. If I join in here at least it will make me think about what I buy and question if it is really necessary. I suspect I won't have enough fresh stuff though.

You will see by my sig I have had my budget challenged this month. I found too many good deals on reduced price and BOGOF (kelloggs cornflakes on BOGOF! couldn't miss that. Even thinking about getting a few more. )

Aside from getting milk, eggs, butter, veggies and fruit my partner and I have been living out of our freezer and store cupboard for the last three weeks, we've done quite well. Initially we did it to save some money to go towards my partners birthday party, but now we are doing it because we bought too much food for the party, so we have been making use of what we've got.

We are running low this week on frozen veggies, so that may be on the shopping list, but otherwise I shall certainly be continuing with spending as little as possible. Its amazing how many meals you can make of whatever is lurking in the cupboard and freezer. We are also eating a lot more veggies since we started this as we are using them to fill us up.

Am currently finding it difficult to manage my grocery budget, not sure why as am managing to budget everthing else ok. Yet I keep buying daft items like sandwiches, crisps and pop when at work, just cause everyone else does .

Sorry for ramble and count me in am off to work now so will catch up later

Good luck with this - I'll pop in to cheer you on.
Can't say i'll join you as - although I'm pretty stocked up on most things I found out last night that OH, due home tomorrow after working away for a week, is leaving again for work on Wed for another week. To say I'm fed up about this is an understatement, so will probably do some mindless grocery shopping after work a couple of days this week, + even more likely go for a drink or 2!!
    But.....back to you...and good luck!!

Ha! Well we have a few bottles of red wine in, our friends brought a bottle each at the weekend and it was 3 families. They ended up drinking COrona with our South American/mexican inspired meal!

Hi, I can't quite do a no spend week as I don't have enough food in fridge/cupboards but will aim to have a no spend week other than food. Will be quite a challenge for me to but one I think I need to do;) My budget for food is £50 so that's all I'll be allowing myself to spend this week.

oo lovely! Only went off to make bread and come back to lots of posts!! Very exciting! While potatoes were boiling checked the cupboards & all sorts lurking! Why for instance do I have 8 things of chopped toms!! I have lots of dried goods and some very random things (pudding rice anyone?!!) so will be interesting creating actually edible recipes! Didnt get to the freezer but certainly have enough for a week! Petrol obviously doesent count as I cant get to work without it! I do need cat food & washing up liquid and will get that today at lidl - need to also look at some seeds as planting time is upon us! Very exciting although it means some digging this pm first!!

  • I might just give this a go.
Lots in including long-life milk and a whole loaf of bread.
Bread is where i might fail though as i've no room to put bread in the freezer and no BM.
I'm also joining you on the quitting smoking (again:o ) starting tomorrow but i'll have to skip the wine on Friday. One glass of wine = twenty fags:rolleyes: but i'll celebrate with a large choccie bar.

Going to be a tough week but , no pain, no gain:j
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(
