Minimal/no spend week (£0for me) 18 May!

Hi everybody
I am going to have to have a fresh start cos last week we had a funeral on Tuesday which meant we needed petrol to get there, nice white shirts for OH and DS2 and 3 black ties and a black skirt for me (the only problem with only buying when absolutely necessary means that when something happens you need to find money to buy things that have worn out) and a nice bunch of flowers. But these things happen and have to be dealt with. Also the freezer finally ran out so I had been just buying bits as I needed them and I lost track of my spending.
Anyway OH pointed out that we do have to eat and it will be less work for me to do a biggish shop so I've just spent £53.20 in Iceland and the freezer is now nicely full again so I'm back on track
Good luck to everbody for a sucessful week

Hello all! Bak from town and got perfume!! No clothes as planned as didnt like stuff enough...
mumz I have gven up smoking now for 3 weeks. The only I advice I can give you is just do it...the longer you keep "topping up" with fags the longer it takes to break the habit. It took me a few weeks of faffing to just get cross with myself & stop talking about doing it & doing it plus I HATED spending nearly £6 on a pack if ciggies! Feel much better for it but the only one who can do it is you...sorry to sound tough but it true and wish I could do it for you but it was harder giving up myself!! The final straw for me was the money being wasted so maybe add up what you are spending along the way & that maymake you think hard before having one? Once youre past the first "push" it does get easier but there is a bit of wall climbing first!!! HTH...
Go for is CM - hope the funeral wasnt someone very close & hugs either way...
Well done Jackie - what would your normally have spent?
I am almost halving my GB I think because I used to give up on the GB as a month such a long time while this wa I can plan a week on/week off plus break the shopping habit that I have! Definately much improved & would never have come back from town empty handed before - just as a point of principle!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Insearchofme - I see your GC for june is only £80 do you live on your own? I have me and 2 kids and feed the bf part time lol and i only spent like £55 this month. I aim at £100 every monthSealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -
Ye mumz that is just me & 3 cats - cat food alone is over 20 a month so effectively its about 60 for me which is about 200/300 less than I used to spend! Baby steps for me and I am in no ways perfect (but well aware of that!!) . I think this is about setting what is comfortable for you within your budget at the end of the day and people need to set their own "level" IYKWIM!

I don't smoke mumzy but used to years ago - I couldn't cut down though so had to go cold turkey. so if I was never going to give up I'd probably include them in my monthly budget but if you are trying to make yourself feel guilty then it's probably good to keep it in daily spends (hope that makes sense).
We walked to the beach today to save petrol and it was all going so well till we got thirsty so ended up spending about £3.50 on drinks... whoops! will be more organised next time.:oMortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

DefinItely a no spend day today. Its chucking it down here in North Kent.I have some braising steak to go into the slow cooker this morning, and yesterday my DD gave me the remains of the sunday Beef joint so I am going to whizz it up in my food mixer and make some individual Cottage Pies with it to go into the freezer.I have some spuds that need peeling and mashing before they start to grow much more and I want to make a semolina pudding with some powdered Marvel milk as well .I find if I make a milk pud it will last me at least a couple of days and then the main meal of the day doesn't need to be quite as large as I will have a pud to follow IYSWIM.As the weather is awful I shall stay imn today and will probably make some of Twinks Hob-nobs for the biscuit tin as well.
I think this week will be a good one finacially as I have nothing as yet to buy that I can think of.0 -
I'm doing the same Jackie! Was going to the tip & tesco but will leave it & be creative with my food instead! Its too yukky to leave! now what to do with a can of pears...!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
