Well, if it's only a no spend on food then I'm doing ok! Haven't spent anything on food this week. However, I originally intended not to spend anything at all and I haven't been able to stick to that - yesterday was a complete disaster. But all I spent today was £2.55 on some emergency neurofen to stave off a migrane; that must be my lowest daily spend for weeks. This thread is really helping me to focus my mind - thanks guys.0

Maybe should have names it the spend as little as you can on anything thread?!! The main thing is we are all identfying areas of weakness & seeing how much we nrmaly spend on "little" things & that cant be bad! Keep up the good work pepys!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Well I am off to Sittingbourne today to buy my grandsons birthday present, but I won't be spending any money as I have a £20.00 Woolworths voucher left over from a deal I did with one of my other grandsons a little while ago when he wanted some cash towards his Wii.My DD knows exactly what the little guy wants and its about £17.00 so that plus some wrap ect should keep me on the right side of no-spending .We are taking the little boy to the country park after lunch this afternoon after nursery so I will take some bottled orange juice and a flask of coffee with us and some fruit for nibbles instead of going to the coffee shop
God I'm getting so mean in my old age !! but it is good that money isn't being wasted on silly things0 -

Do you know, my children love going to restaurants etc, but they have always really enjoyed having picnics, even taking their tea into the garden! Sitting on a blanket in the park, under the trees......sharing time with GS, wonderful!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

How exiting TB!! Here is a great website for you

Lots of helpful advice although one thing I discovered is that ten people wll tell you ten ways to do the same thing! A Well! Wow I'm envious - water on tap! In summer you will realise how FAB that is!! Felled tree could be chopped t make table/chair or firewood perhaps? Pepys will buy it! et us know how you get on!Good way to keep out of mischief although I spent a bomb when I got mine first - greenhouse & shed!! Love it though!!
OK back to the challenge! Have a nurses appt (smoking - need me lozenges!) and trip to library but other than that am working from home today and will keep away from the shops! Am now out of red bul but realise its not a good habit (optimum nutritio bible will I am sure confirm that whe I get to teh right chapter!) ...weezle informs me that I could last 6 weeks without shopping and being honest I nearly hyperventilated when I read that!!
Spoke to my mum who is very proud of me for not shopping 3 days but gave me a stern talking to about the mere thought of going to get t-shirts and the words "beg, borrow or steal" came from her!! She doesent get the shopping thing at all...it comes from my dads side I think cos her mum was also very frugal!!
Ho hum!! Hope you all have a good day! Will pop in intermittently to see how you all are! I have a new mini spending diary and havent been able to use it yet!! It very pretty!!

Yesterday was a good day, I was at work for most of it and resisted buying an ice lolly when out with my little charge as I knew there were some in the freezer. We took a picnic to the park and then spent an hour or so in the library and enjoyed a chilled out afternoon. This week I have been taking little snacks to work, but only what I find in the cupboard, which has worked really well, as it means not buying a big bar of chocolate from Woolies on the way to work.
Today I'm not working until 3pm, so it will be a no spend day again, as I'll be taking water from the fridge (going into London on the tube, so need to take something) and a snack from the cupboard, but I'll also have a good filling lunch, as I won't be home until midnight and will only be having a sandwich later for supper.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -
Well, good thing it was only a no-food-spend week! Though I have bought lots of fruit and veg, I decided that the stuff in the house simply wasn't enough to keep us going, so I would have to do it. In my defence, I started this without going shopping first, just with the leftovers of the previous week, so I don't feel too bad about it. I couldn't get a lettuce well Sainsbury's (not my usual haunt) wanted 95p for an iceberg, so we detoured to Lidl on the way home, theydidn't have ANY lettuce at all, so got plenty of tomatoes and cuc, have fresh basil here so that will keep dd happy. MIL took me in to her's when I dropped her off and she has given me half her lettuce and some sticks of rhubarb.
SHe's been generous today, coffee out, lunch out (we shared a s/w and teacake) and bought me a plant (welsh onion) at the gdn centre. I think the welsh onion will be very ms, as it's perennial and cut and come again type of onion.
Hope the rest of you are going on OK. I will now have to see how many days I can work out of what is left in now!
Well I felt such a failure having spent ££ yesterday. Added up the receipts and see it's £14.17.
Tomatoes,
grapes,
potatoes (old)
Potatoes (salad)
carrots, apples (2 packs)
pears.
sweet red peppers,
bananas,
satsumas (BOGOF) ,
coriander(whoopsie),
cucumber.
On the other hand, I'm glad that the kids are tucking into the fruit and veg."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Think of it positively PI - you were originally going for 47 so that 47 will go a lot further now youve only spent 14....its hard balancing the healthy eating vs spending money isnt it! I stopped buying fresh fruit as always just end up chucking it...may rethink and maybe get some frozen smoothy fruit! (next week!!)
have a lovely day Jackie! I love a picnic - something relaxing abot it - like camping IYMWIM...possibly being out in the sun adds the extra enjoyment!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
