It rained so I haven't done my lawn! I've put my geraniums (overwintered in the shed and on kitchen windowsill) out for a bit as they are looking a bit parched and it is mild.

Off to finish dinner - late but still on 2/5 family here so no one minds very much apart from me (as I'm starving!)

  • Thanks for the kind welcome to the MSE site. Don't have my own computer as yet, but saving hard. Can't get the hang of exclamation marks...At my sister's today as my 50th birthday tomorrow! OS celebration- as I live alone not practical to bake a potato in the oven,so as that is something I particularly like, asked my sister Diane to include this in our meal. She joked that since I was only wanting a meal at home(so our much loved dog could be there) why didn't she just cook a Christmas dinner! So that's what we're goi:rotfl: ng to have minus the holly! Hope everyone is having a pleasant bank holiday! xxx:A

Its horrible when you feel like you are the only one doing things, I suggest you do a 'Tru' on them :D Tru is a regular poster on here, and a while ago she felt the same as you, and gave the family a good telling off, it worked a treat apparantly, and every now and then you will hear one of us on here saying we have done a 'Tru' :D;)

    Hiya :hello:

Hope everyone is ok and big hugs :grouphug: to those still feeling unwell or down and to those with sick family members too.

Well it's been typical bank holiday weather here I'm afraid!
This morning DD1 went over to her friend's early as they were going to Chester Zoo and then her friend is having a sleepover as a 24 hour birthday treat. I took DD2 to church with me and taught the sunday school group.
DH is still laying the wooden floor in the front room and doing a grand job too. :D The house is a tip and the car is full of old carpet and junk ready for the tip.

I've ordered my weekly shopping from Mr T's and managed to save £15 using a code and buying lots of things on offer. I've also ordered quite a few value things that I've not tried before as I was inspired from the other thread on here. So far I've been impressed with the 18p tortilla chips and the NAS value lemon squash has been a huge hit with the girls and DH. The total cost was under £40 and it will save me a trip to the shops on Tuesday too.
The beds have all been stripped and washed and dried and we had tuna/veg bol with pasta for tea.
    Have a peaceful evening. :D

Had a productive day today....put the slow cooker on over night last night to make pea and ham soup. So had that to blitz this morning, made a roast for lunch, using some of the ham joint.
Then batch made apple crumbles (hubbies favourite!), pizzas for the kids (made 10 to go in the freezer) and watercress soup (bought 2 bags of the stuff in tesco for 10p each).
Just been and put 2 crayfish traps down at our local river ....fingers crossed for a nice haul in the morning!

    Evening all.

Granny Broon - have a great holiday.
Ivyleaf - hope you are feeling better now.
llamahead - I'd have done the same as you! Can't abide flying bugs.
    Tru's Dad - happy birthday!

Went up to my parents last night, and out for lunch today for my uncles 65th b'day. Was lovely. We called back at a garden centre (Mums 3rd visit in 8 days, and she spent over £50 each time!!) to pick up some more veg plug plants. DH can get them planted out this week.

Busy week ahead for me work wise (Off to Derry on Weds for 2 very long days, but get a night in a hotel paid for by work) so going to enjoy tomorrow by doing not much at all.

    Hugs to whomever wants them.

Thanks for that link Dorry, will see if I can get it from my Uni library. LD - learning disabilities... I knew that, d'oh! Just having a blank moment then... I looked up the course details - that sounds like pretty tough going?!?!? Although I would have loved the mental health route & SW combined course if it was offered here, very interesting I should think.

Pandora, I am having much the same at the moment - the more I do/spend for my DD's, the more selfish/stroppy they are being (although I could be more sensitive as I'm a bit under pressure at the moment!!). I am about to withdraw from doing a lot for them & saying "no" as I know they don't like it & it does work... eventually...!

    Thanks for the sympathy Redruby.

I've looked for posts by Tru but she's very prolific and there are dozens of them. Can anyone give me a link to Tru's guide to telling off please, as it would be useful when I locate the family?

(Only youngest here for dinner... and she's decided she doesn't like rhubarb pie though ate the roast. Oh and son wants a lift, of course!)

I'm going to be really focused and organised tomorrow and make sure everyone else does at least one thing to help!

    Evening everybody :hello:

Metherer, hope you enjoy your visit to Norn Iron :D Go for a walk round the walls of the city if you can.

Hope everyone is well, I've been running up and down to Mum's all day doing laundry. DH has put WM back together but it is still leaking so we're going to let it keep going until it goes bang, then we'll replace it. No shame really as it belonged to DH's Gran and it's approx 11yo.

Had roasted chicken for tea and had cooked it last night, stripped the carcass and made stock. So HM chicken and veg soup for tomorrow and the rest of the chhok is in the freezer. It's a miracle I got it squeezed in at all as I went to the farm shop yesterday, spend £40 but came home with 10lbs of freezer mince all bagged in 1lb bags, 2 slices rib eye steak, 8 sausages, a free range chook which we had today, 6 duck eggs and 2lts milk. That should do for the month meat wise and then I'll fill up on veggies etc as the month goes on.

If the weather is good tomorrow we'll go out for the day and take the dog, probably to the forest as it's a nice walk which we all enjoy.

Made flapjacks last night from twinks hob nob recipe and they've been demolished, not one left. Guess I'll have to make more when I'm off work on Tuesday.

Bought a copy of Mrs Beeton's everyday cookery on Amazon tonight and can't wait for it to arrive, how sad am I?? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope everyone had a good day, I'm off to catch up now and enjoy a nice glass of wine.

Hugs to everyone in need, :grouphug::grouphug:
    See you all tomorrow

    Hello:D

    I'm late today, what's changed:o

I've been really busy, but just wanted to pop in and say Hi!

Tomorrow I won't get on early, because I'm going with DH to Nottingham to watch the Ladies Cup Final. Arsenal Ladies are in it so as he supports Arsenal he'd like to go. I'm a good little Chelsea supporter, but can switch allegiance for one day;) It's going to be a long journey, so just hope they win:D

Ivyleaf, sorry you've been ill. Aussie hadn't sent you some lettuce soup had she?:rotfl:

mrs mix, any news of Dad? And hope you're feeling better too.

Granny Broon, have a good holiday. I'm sure Aussie will post your photos for you;)

Well off for a quick look round, then I must do packed lunches for us for tomorrow. Managed to find an old flask for coffee, so I've had that filled with bicarb in water to freshen it up.

    ((((hugs)))) to the poorly ones.
