i knew bmi pulled out as i had a flight in july to heathrow booked with them,changed to easyjet,but very suprised ba are pullnig out,but then maybe there fares are to high??
BA continue to fly from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow to Heathrow. Gatwick/Luton is not much good for a lot of non holiday flights for the likes of the OP and myself when we need to fly to work.
Its a shame they stopped the Inverness one. Inverness IS the "capital" of the Highlands, it covers a large geographical area. Inverness Airport usage has been increasing over the last few years (just like the city itself) and not having a Heathrow connection restrics it somewhat. BA probably found a better revenue making place for its slot at Heathrow.
BA have also dropped Loganair, Loganair and now going into cahoots with FlyBe.
BA really need to change their names to London Airways!0 -
The property market is pretty healthy in Inverness so what's the worst that could happen if you didn't settle?
Worst ... there can be lots of worsts:
1] house could be 40% in negative equity when redundancies kick in and the OP loses their job. Trapped and approaching winter, with the dark days and nights, no roots, family or friends in the area, no jobs to be had ..... the OP suddenly wished they were closer to a more built up area with a larger choice of options/jobs.
2] could find out that chavscum move into the area. As they've spotted the OP's rarely at home it becomes a target for graffiti, petty vandalism and the occasional break in. Crack den going on in the garden shed. Teens using the gardens for a quickie.

Haven't you just described situations that could happen anywhere the OP chose to move to? There's not many guarantees in life about anything. If anything,you are less likely to experience those in Inverness.
The comment about 'closer to a more built up area'.......Inverness is as much or a built up area as you're ever going to get. It's only the smaller surrounding towns that are limited really.Herman - MP for all!

Oh i forgot to ask one other thing: sometimes when you purchase online, the retailer adds a delivery surcharge to postcodes beginning with IV. Does this mean than deliveries to Inverness city and its suburbs are also surcharged or only to remote areas of the Highlands?0

inverness to gatwick is just over a hr,i have done it a few times,move inverness is wonderful(i stay 30 miles from it in aviemore)very little crime,excellent scenery,and its the fastest growing city in europe supposedly
so wouldnt take you long to get to london,whats stoppnig you
On the Invernes airport website it says 1 hr 50 mins direct, I think a few were a bit less. I guess they must have it wrong.
