OS Daily for Saturday 3rd May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 3rd May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all, am I first??? I'd have thought the thread would be well underway by now - are all you insomniacs sleeping in today...?! Been awake on & off since 5.45ish, thought I'd make a start on typing my letters for the office soon so they're out of the way.
(((((smokey, penpin, anniebl, anniestar, betheebee, mrsmix))))))) and I know there are others who will need/want. Hope those poorlies are feeling a bit better.
TNG - morning gorgeous :kisses2: :happyhear
Martyn - how's the Owl doing - it conjures up pictures of such a tranquil place when you describe where you are....
Next couple of days mostly likely to be taken up with trying to write an essay & put a portfolio together, but also got Tuesday for that too and eves next week as I haven't got my office letters then. Will be getting some banana bread going I think, and also some herby granary rolls. Might get youngest DD to make some of Twink's hobnobs, will give her something to do too!
Looks a bit murky out, hope it brightens up so I can get some washing out. Have a good day all.

Morning. I have been up for ages. I thought this thread would be miles long by now.
Day off, in fact 4 days off. I have to visit the Mo in law today as it was her birthday yesterday. I hate going there at their house is among the worst you have ever seen. Almost on par with those documentaries on grime.
I will stay a few minutes and then leave for an air break.
It's sad, but they don't seem to want to change. Most of their grown up kids send the presents by post and they only live up the road!
Lots to do this weekend, incl BBQ on Sunday, church, loads of projects in the garden, etc...
I am going to pick up some hatching eggs in a minute and try out incubation for the first time (No I am not going to sit on them). I have an expert coaching me and all his professional gear.
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
N9eav.... eugh.... don't blame you... sounds gruesome. I sort of started the thread by putting the sticky, then went off to double-check I hadn't missed another somewhere before I added the rest of mine.... Maybe everyone else has left the country?!?!?
Sounds exciting about the eggs - you'll have to start a daily hatching diary!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Morning, err, all?
Hello Squiggly, are we it?
Hope everyone is well. I'm good, it's looking good weather-wise but I've still got nowt to say! (puts hand on forehead to check temperature
) Had a great day yesterday but felt quite down after checking the Daily last night.
Taplady: I'm so very sorry to hear about your JR. I cried very gentle tears for you at your loss and my two knew there was something amiss. I've been where you are numerous times so share your grief with me if you need to. Special hugs to you from Finn and Mollie, the Benthosdogs.
My thoughts are with those in need.
Takke care and be safe.

Morning Martyn,
yep, looks like it!!! Just us (think N9eav has gone to get his eggs
)...
Glad you had a good day - did you wake up to the Owl or others today?
Taplady - my condolences too

Squiggly: haven't heard the Owl today but at the moment I've got a Blackbird, Chaffinches and Siskins all battling for top songster position and I can hear a Green Woodpecker "yaffling" in the distance. I watched two Ravens mobbing a Buzzard in the forest last night. As corvids go, they're gorgeous birds, big black powerful things, but there's always something portentious about them  As I typed that last sentence, two Swans have just flown over, bugling away to their chums. All I can hear atm is birdsong, it's heavenly

Good morning :hello:
I'm here too.
:j :j
Last night's supper was rather different to what I was expecting. I'd got a quiche in the freezer that I was going to heat from frozen, so I put the oven on, only for the grill element to fall down. Trying to fix a hot oven was not the way forward, so I gave up and did a quick tuna pasta meal. DH's job is now to fix the oven whilst it is cool!
After being told how rubbish we all are by the head on Tuesday night, she came in to observe me yesterday and I was told that I was doing "really well". So, I'm not being put on capability proceedings yet then....... (as was her threat to everyone) The school has put an advert out for teachers and to date, no one has even asked for an application pack. Not even the teachers who have to reapply for their own job........ This is in stark contrast to other schools that have to fight off applicants with a stick and regularly have 50 - 100 applicants for one teaching position.
I'm going to Milton Keynes today with a friend from Luton (who Bargain Rzl has met in a different capacity). We're watching "Single Spies" which is another Alan Bennett play, but this time starring Nigel Havers, Diana Quick and Jack Ryder (Jamie from EastEnders!). We'll be meeting for lunch, which will be a nice treat at an Italian.
While I am out, DH has got a long list of things to do in the garden as it hasn't been nice enough here to get out and about until (fingers crossed!) today.
Have a good day all.

Morning all
Have been awake since the early hours due to OH's snoring  . Have dropped him and DS at the bus stop as they have gone up to London today to the British Museum.
First load of washing is on, will put second on in a minute. It's lovely here, will go down to the allotment for an hour. Will try and do some studying and then I suppose I should get some sleep as I am working the next two nights
TAPLADY sorry about your little dog, hugs to you.
HUGS to anyone else who wants one especially SMOKEY, PENPIN, ANNIESTAR.
Off to strip the beds. Always have to go to sleep in clean sheets when I'm on nights. Aren't we a funny lot?
Have a good day all.

Morning all, I'm off to Wincanton with DD to a furniture sale, beautifull stuff called Myakka. Had a great eve last night dd took us out for a meal.
Am off to DD2 as it's her birthday, she is 39yrs old, we had her when I was 17 and DH was 26, so that makes me  where does the time go ? must dash, catch you all later. Love to all.0 -
Yesterday I had the builders in. I'd called them back to repair a bit of my kitchen floor that they'd previously dug up to find a water leak that they'd caused when they damp proofed and remodelled the place.
They weren't too happy. Sullen and grumbling I'd call it.
They were even less happy when they discovered that I only had "watery 'orrible" skimmed milk for their cups of tea. In fact things got rather heated and they informed me of my duties as their host and employer. I wasn't having any of that! Sheesh! I gave them a right mouthful and told them they could bog off up the road to the cafe in the Asda.
At which point they laid me out on the floor! One of them sat on my chest and the other started using a very noisy power sander on my ear!
Which was when I woke up to find Sally, my cat, sitting on my chest and purring away while she gave my ear a good wash!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Morning everyone :hello:
Got rudely awoken this morning by DD1 shouting at DD2 to go back to sleep   Not a great start but as her favourite auntie is coming over today she has promised to be a good girl ....
Got lots of cleaning done last night so the house is reasonably presentable, and even managed some therapeutic baking too
Time for another cuppa and to sort out a load for the WM.
Hope everyone has a nice day
