    Afternoon All
Big hugs to smokey, penpin, anniebl, anniestar, betheebee, mrsmix. Betheebee you are same age as me.
I've been up since 6 but only just got on here. I dropped hubby at the station, went to Tesco & did a very careful shop, it came to £148, not too bad as some stuff will last us 2 or 3 months. Put petrol in the car, eeek!
I came home & Katy was already up & so helped me to put the shopping away & then stayed in the kitchen chatting for about an hour which is very unusual. DW has been on & emptied, WM on & 1 load on the line. I need to run the vacuum round, but will wait till Katy has finished her yoga, I don't think vacing round her will be conducive to the relaxing atmosphere she is trying to create.
I've marinaded some chicken wings & will cook them for when hubby gets home. I think he's working Monday as well. DD phoned me last night with some news, her job finishes in September & she was undecided what to do, she's now had a fantastic offer of a managers job & she's so excited & I'm so pleased for her.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Scuzz - yes you can bake with most type of eggs. My mum uses duck eggs usually.

You'd be best using recipes that require a certain weight of eggs rather than number, such as this one:

oooh scrambled goose eggs sounds fab - I love duck eggs but have never had goose.
Lazy-ish day here after taking DD (gilliana on here) to airport to head back to her flat. Chopped up veg for my stir fry tonight, boiling brown rice at the mo in the water from my boiled egg at lunchtime. If the water is good for plants, then surely it will be good for me and my rice? Full of minerals from the shell, I think.
Other plans include ironing a pile of table cloths from loft - all are washed and just need ironed and sorted into keep and go. Might also tackle a bit of weeding. Dogs to walk later - they are fast asleep at the moment.
    Enjoy your day everyone.
(((((hugs)))) to folks who need or want one

  • It seems that the days whiz by before I end have a chance to look at the daily thread. I took the kids to a market first thing and then we did the food shop. DD has not had a nap today and is whingy so the children are fighting.

Have had to nurse a bleeding toe so got side-tracked away from the food unpacking. Must go and get that done. Uniform sorted out for school and most of the ironing done. Might get on with the last few bits and start the week off with a sitting room free of washing.

Must dash as DS had made DD cry now

Am please with the London Mayor results - should be very interesting to see how Boris gets on, just a result not having to look at Kens face anymore - just looking at it made me angry.

Hmmm yes, but i just want to 'fix' Boris's hair each time i see him on the TV!Last night it looked like someone else had the same idea and tried to give him a bit of a comb over but the rest just stuck up in the usual shaggy mess! :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Good Morning All

It never but pours in this house! OH had to be towed home last night by the RAC. The timing belt has broke! He's on the phone now to our mechanic, but it doesn't look good! roughly £400 to do, and may need a new engine or scrap it. So Im going to make a few other phone calls for a second opinion.

So if you dont see me around for a while, look out for me on crimewatch, as I may end up doing a bank job!!!!

    Take care
    Love Emma xxx

I sympathise with you as it's exactly the same in our house at the mo. OH drove the car home yesterday at 5 miles an hour as one of the front springs (or sommat) has broken. The whole front of the car is sitting on the front wheels and the rear end is up in the air (sound very unattractive!) OH recons £300  to fix as both front springs will need replaced :( It will be a credit card job, maybe suggest the bank job idea to OH but would need a get away car and that will be a sore point :rotfl: More unexpected expense is all we need as we are trying to clear our CC's not spend on them :o Why do these things have to happen?

Two weeks ago our computer packed in and i lost a pile of work, couldnt afford to buy a new PC so am having to use my work laptop. We never seem to get out of the bit, never get a chance to save any money and we are both a bit miserable today :(

Ah well, these things are sent to try us for some reason.

    Take care

    Hiya :hello:

Big hugs to those who are unwell or just feeling down.:grouphug:

A bitty sort of day here today. Took DD2 to her swimming lesson while DD1 was at orchestra this morning. Meanwhile DH is laying the new wooden floor in the front room and it looks fab :j so I've been busy doing bits and pieces. The girls are out playing with their friends.

The wm has been on about 4 times and most of the washing has been dried on the line as the weather here is warm and breezy with patchy cloud. I've wrapped some birthday and communion presents, sorted out coats and clothes for the summer and done some sewing/repairing etc. Tonight's tea will be pizza with potato salad and coleslaw before we settle down to watch Dr Who with a bowl of popcorn.
    Have a good evening.:D

Car probs day today, me thinks! My DH went off to do a quote and, half way there, his exhaust blew so he had to conjure up £80 to get it fixed. They were going to charge £125 but he is an EXCELLENT barterer and managed to get it down. At least he got the job he quoted for but is now £80 down on the profit. Still, it could have been worse - see poor CRAZYCHIK - we had expensive timing-belt probs some years ago and never quite got over the size of the bill.

I've done a bit of work this afternoon and had a doze as well. I'm pleased I got such a lot of baking done this morning although it seemed I was forever clearing up the kitchen! Aussie's Savoury Impossible Pie is in the oven as I type and smells yummy; we're looking forward to that.

The weather has been lovely all day today so I hope it lasts all over the weekend at least.

Anyway, will catch up with you all later.
