  • Morning all, sunny here at the moment but the clouds are gathering.

Hugs to all those in need, especially PP, Smokey, Anniestar, Benthosboy and taplady.

Not much planned here today apart from a quick trip to the garden centre to pick up a few extra plug pots for my beans and to pot up some flowers ready for the hanging baskets. Hoping to call in at the vets on the way to get the kitty's new prescription filled, I was really pleased yesterday when the vet rang me and said she didn't need to increase the dosage at all :T he also apologised yet again for the mess he made of her poor little legs when trying to take the blood. She doesn't seem to notice though, she's not a very bright little cat really ;)

OH has finished in the shower now so it's my turn. Have a great weekend everyone.

Arkonite - if you plug it in and hold down the stop button for a few secs the display should go blank, then you can release the button and use the one on the left (i think it`s select) so start a new prog.

morning all, beautiful day here, bright and sunny, I have OH work clothes in the WM on a boil wash, this morning I found 3 drill bits, and £2.02 in loose change, the change goes in my xmas savings pot :T .

DD is off out with her dad today, and OH and I are out walking, we have worked out a 6.5 mile route along the river Arun, which finishes at a riverside pub  . We are being very naughty tonight and having a indian takeaway delivered, our local one is fantastic, and when I phone to order they always say hello sue, and ask how I am :o (you would think we order an awful lot :rotfl: )

Taplady hugs to you this morning, give the other dogs a hug from me xx

Smoky thinking of you as always xx

Pen pin take it easy xx

Candygirl, sounds like you have had a great week

    Hugs to the crazychicks x

Kathy, I could go on for hours about the nephew situation, his parents drive me  , I know he is a little s*d, but its becaus of the way he has been bought up, she is insisting that he comes home after his 10 day stay, this is only because she gets a carers allowance for him, which I think is nearly £100 a week, and because she is worried about what her friends will say
Any way he is still in the home, till next Wed I think, but we will have to wait and see. I think I will phone nephew tonight, so will let you know.

    Dr Who Tonight :T :T :T

    Have good days all xx

REDRUBY - I think, at the age of 14, the child can make their own decision. I have heard of youngsters putting themselves in care to get away from a bad situation at home so perhaps he could have a word with his social worker. It breaks my heart to think of any child being desperate enough to volunteer to go into care but, as we know, there are some people who are not fit to be parents. I also remember being told by a judge that, in divorce cases involving children, as long as the child is aged 13 or over, their views will be taken into account when custody and care is discussed. This all makes me think that, because of his age, by law he should have the final say. The social worker will be aware, I expect, that his mum gets money for looking after him but she is blatantly not looking after him and doesn't deserve it. He may be a little s*d but, really, most children that age are not angels and it's the worst age to be going through such a bad time. It reminds me of one of my DS2's friends; at the age of 13 his mum ran away with another man and took her two youngest with her. She told DS2's friend that she didn't want him. It took him ages to get over it. His dad had to work away a lot and we let him stay with us for ages until he got sorted out. It was the greatest compliment when, after about six months, he said that his son was back to his old self simply because he had lived in a stable loving home for a while. He took his son and mine away for a holiday as a thank you, not that I wanted one. I just couldn't bear to think that that boy thought his mum didn't love him. He is now happily married and became a dad himself recently but, somehow, when I look at him, I still see the vulnerable boy of 13.

Sorry for the long post - I got a bit carried away but it reminds me of the poem that ends something like 'You made a difference in the life of a child' and I truly think we, as a family, helped in the small way we could. I do hope your nephew finds the right care.

Tried that as I had read about it on the panny thread, it doesn't work for me. I have to unplug and leave for at least 10 minutes to reset it. Thanks anyway ;)

When DD1 &2 came to live with their Dad and I , DD1 was only 10 and her views were taken into account by the magistrate, I think it depends on how mature the child is and in our case, DD1 was very grown up at that age. Now she's 15, she's more like a normal 15 yo. At 10 she was acting like a 25 yo

It's all worked out for the best though and the social workers on our case were very good with DD1&2 helping them to deal with everything. I agree with the comments made that some people just aren't fit to be parents. That is certainly true in the case of our 2 and their "proper mother":mad::mad:

Even though I'm not their Mum biologically DD2 calls me Mummy when she's in a good mood and I just get my name when she feels hard done by :rotfl:

To me they are mine, and I would fight tooth and nail to do everything I can for them, doesn't mean to say that they drive me daft sometimes, but I love them to bits ;)

    Morning All

Just had breakfast - scrambled goose egg with bacon on toast. Does anyone know if goose eggs can be used in cooking cakes? I would think yes, but obviously they are much bigger than the humble hen and duck egg.

Got an hour and a bit before I have to go to work. My day off but being made to cover the football. Such a lovely day, I can think of a million other things I'd rather be doing!

Done some of my daily clicks - more will be available later. And done some surveys.

Got an audition to do later for some voice over work. So fingers crossed I get that.

Woke up earlier than I wanted too. But got up anyway. Not sure if I'm going out tonight, nothing's been arranged and I really don't feel like it. Not to mention the expense. I've just invested a lump sum in my career so really need to tighten the belt.

Car insurance renewal came this morning. £271, so will have a quick nose online to see if I can get it cheaper:D

    Happy birthday if you're celebrating

    Hope everyone's ok
