Right well i've just checked internet banking again- for the second time today! The gifts money has gone into the Christmas savings account bringing the cash total up to £40.83, and i've written the sort code and A/N down for when I take my 20ps into the bank tomorrow. So that's sorted. I'm expecting another voucher hopefully tomorrow, for £10 too. My plan is to get as many vouchers for different shops as possible. Debenhams next I think. Then when the sale is on, I hopefully won't have to use cash.
Our friend has just dropped off the £20 he owed us so that's gone into the housekeeping kitty and i've transferred the £20 online into the holiday spends account- in my name so dh HAS to keep his mitts off it! It makes sense to have it all in my name anyway this year as I'll be paying no tax and he will be. I've explained this to him, but i'm not sure he really gets it. Oh well.
Just found out my Mum is coming down on Wed. and we are going to order my pram! I'm so excited! It's a silvercross one, black, from mothercare. It's my Mums baby gift to us. £300 eeeek. But it is lovely and she said I could have whichever one I wanted. It's funny but I've had my eye on this one for ages- ever since I started lurking in Mothercare!
We are also going shopping for a nightie for hospital- i'm taking my old pjs as well but I need a button down the front nightie and some nursing bras. Going to cost a bomb but I HAVE to spend it! My budget is £26 for 2 nursing bras- from either mothercare or Marks- not decided yet. And £10 for a nightie- not sure where from yet. Moneywise I've got £20 clothing from the budget and £35 spends money. I'm also going out to dinner on Wed. night with friends which will cost about £20. Grrrr. I know people mean well but I don't think they really get how skint we are! It's always one of those split the cost things too. I'm going to have to say, i'll pay for my own I think. Too expensive otherwise.
Total moneys allowed: £55, £20 dinner and £35 clothing inc. bras. I hope I can do it! Maybe Mum will buy some of the clothing if I look pathetic enough!
I wish I didn't have to go for this dinner. It really is going to cost a bomb. And there are other things I would much rather spend the money on these days. It's kind of been organised as a baby shower type thing tho so I can't very well not go! They are lovely girls but they are all quite well off (in comparison to me anyway) and look a bit blank when I say about money being scarce.
Oh well, at least when the baby is born I'll be able to duck out gracefully! Maybe I could invite people round for a bar b q instead or something when the baby's here. That'd be better. Everyone could bring something and we could have a nice cheap night!
Anyway, waffle over!

Well done Jak. I know what you mean about the well off friends bit. My friends always seem to have loads of money to splash about and I feel such a tightwad-I always panic when they arrange a meal! A bbq is a great idea-you can control the budget and there is no need to get a babysitter. I bet you have a great time-you've budgetted for it so just relax and enjoy it.Hope you enjoy getting your pram-I was so excited when I got mine!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

I know it's a bit of a mare... I hope that they realise that with a baby coming so soon, i've other committments now. It's like that friends episode whre they argue about money and Ross tell Rachel he doesn't see money as an issue and she replies 'that's because you have it!' lol!
My dh is off at a bar b q today so i'm feeling a bit lonely to be honest. He did ask me to go but all his friends smoke, I can't drink and I don't want ot eat b b q food while i'm pg! So erm not much fun for me if I did go!
I'm having a bit of a problem with my Mum. Now her awful husband wants to come on Wed to go shopping with us. Honestly he's a nightmare, he'll complain ALL day and get lost etc. Plus I don't want a man there while I'm trying on nursing bras. How inappropriate! Anyway, I've emailed her to tell her. Now I feel a bit mean because once i'd started, I went on a bit...Oh well. Plus he's mental! He had a nervous breakdown recently and has 'phychotic' episodes! Lovely. He had one at my wedding dress fitting last year (another reason I don't want him to come) and nearly knocked my Mum out. What she is still doing with that dreadful man I really don't know! I wish he didn't EVER have to be around my child. I don't feel like it's safe really. He has 2 kids of his own who hate him and will have nothing to do with him but he won't tell us why! It's all very odd.... Oh dear, I'm obviously in verbal diareer mode today. Sorry.

On the bighter side: I've jsut checked my phone bill and we've come in under budget by £4.97! So i've added that to our Christmas savings! hooray! We may be able to enjoy Christmas this year after all!!!! We've got £45 in there now and i'm going to the bank in a minute to add my 20ps- £10 worth. It's funny actually, we have all this money (well it's a lot to me) for Christmas savings but actually, it was fairly painless saving it up as most of it is budget excess or Quidco so was 'free'! I wish i'd done it years ago!

Oh no-I really sympathise with you about your mum's husband coming along. He sounds awful and I can see why you don't want him along-especially bra shopping! We have a similar problem (bar the pychotic episodes!) with DH mum's new husband. We all can't stand him-he is so annoying and sarcastic and mean and it is a real ordeal to spend time with him. DH actually said that he couldn't come to DS 2nd birthday because we knew he'd ruin it looking miserable and criticising everything! I'd put your foot down and say you don't want him to come-I'd make a lot of the fact that you are bra shopping so not to offend your mum! Thanks. That's what i've done. Bigged up the 'bra' thing. God what is wrong with some people!?! The thing that bugs me the most is that my Mum is convinced that we don't like him because we wouldn't like anyone she was with and that just isn't true. We were so excited to meet him at first and he was so vile to us! He has got this thing about being our Dad as well. It's awful. I've said on numerous occasions that i've got a Dad and I don't need another! You are right. It's time to put my foot down. And I have. No more chances for that man! Your dh mums husband sounds a similar sort. They are a trial! What did she say when he couldn't come to DS b-day? Sounds like the right move if he'd just spoil it!
Well done for your Christmas savings! It's amazing how quickly they add up!
Just been to the bank and put in my 20ps. So now got £55.81 towards our Christmas food thank God!

With DH's mum she turned up for about an 1hr and left without seeing him blow his candles out. He doesn't 'allow' her to go out for long without him. She's always anxious about staying too long and hardly ever sees DS anymore. Apparently he said that we 'took the p' before because we asked her to babysit. This is despite the fact that we looked after her son who is a lot younger than DH numerous times in the past for weekends and even when they were on honeymoon. She is spineless though-when she has a man she just gives in to them. Families eh?HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

They are a nightmare! That's what I don't understand about my Mum, she was always so strong and we are really close but she just won't stand up to him. It drives me completely mad!
At least she came to the party, even tho it's a bit sad she had to leave early.
