Hehe, you're set on persuading her to get a viewty aren't you? I have an n95 myself, which is equally good as the viewty IMO, no touch screen but symbian and sat nav! Yeah the new iPhone better be, I was almost insulted by the fact that apple actually had the cheek to bring such a poorly equipped phone to market. Ok maybe thats a bit over the top but you know what I mean. Not that I have a personal hatred of apple or anything, but I mean £269 plus £35/month, only a 2mp camera, no video recording, no 3G etc. What do they think they're playing at? The only selling point of the iPhone is the interface, I have to admit it is very smooth. I even put an iPhone theme on my n95 so it looks like it lol. Right rant/life story over. Sorry for boring everyone to tears! Sorry Kimberley, we've kinda gone a bit off topic. But we're still here to help you!

What a crackin little phone this is. Bought one on tuesday. The keys and print are large, its simple to use, no frills ie camera or radio, with a large digital clock as screen saver! But knowing that it cant be unlocked easily (Browntoa helpfully advised me) i looked on the Virgin Media website,if you are a V.M. customer they give you 300 texts and 300 minutes to ANY network for £10 / month (3 for £30)free voicemail and remaining balance is carried over. If you get fed up or their signal is rubbish, you can cancel the contract immediately and sell the phone on e bay for around £15.But hurry the V.M. deal sign up is only till MAY 10th. Hope that helps someone

The Battery life on this phone is excellent, a very good review site is gsm arena

rev - Lol. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to get anything, just giving my point of view. I actually looked at the N95 and spoke to people about it. I already have a satnav and therefore decided that the Viewty was the better phone for me. Both phones don't seem to have the best battery life, according to reviews.

Lol how long's a piece of string?! I also text a lot more than I call and was a really rapid texter with my old old phone the Samsung D500. I had the Sony Ericsson K800i after that which was ok but a lil slower than the D500. The Viewty isn't that bad to be honest, but I do find that if you need to use a letter on the same button as before, the wait sems a little longer than I have experienced before. As I say it's not that bad, but it is the only minor downfall I have found so far.

Hi Kimberley, I worked in the mobile retail industry for about 3 years now so i'm pretty sure i could find you a phone. As for a phone which has good battery life, could i possibly recommend the Nokia 6500 Classic? (It's got a 2megapixel camera, 1 gigabyte on board memory - stores a lot of movies, songs, photos, etc.) and radio. Another is the Nokia 6300 (2mp camera, Expandable memory (memory card slot), radio, etc.). I would personally think you should be able to get the Classic (the 6300 you will be able to get) off of your retentions team... if you can't then i would recommend buying a phone on pay as you go that you like (the majority of phones are available nowadays - the 6500 classic is), and moving your contract to sim only (which means you can cancel whenever you like - 30days notice BUT you don't get a new phone with it).

If you went to Sim Only, there are some very very very good deals out there especially on orange (i think it was 700m unlimited texts for £25 or (as you seem to be a texter rather than a talker), one of the following: 150m 300texts £15/m, 200m Unlimited Texts (3000) £20/m or 450m 250t £20/m.

I can't honestly think of any other phones i would recommend other than that the LG Viewty is seriously a nice phone but you have to like touchscreens (if thats your thing etc.) and I would not recommend the Nokia N95 as it is seriously a pile of CR*P.(had one broke down 5 times in first 2.5 months!! - look at my other threads it was from CPW lol).

Hope this is of help, any other questions feel free to ask,

    nvious

p.s. incidentally, if you need any information about the features of a particular phone (someone mentioned this site earlier so forgive me for repeating it), www.gsmarena.com is the best site i know for that kind of thing... has all the features and allows you to compare phones.

I did hear that and that's what put me off going for it. The retentions dept actually offered me a cracking deal on this handset without too much persuasion which put me off lol!! The Viewty took 4 phone calls and a lot of research on different providers package deals etc. This said to me that O2 thought the viewty was worth more. However, I didn't want to slate the N95 too much as I have never had a play with one and rev seemed to like it. I wouldn't rubbish other people's opinions without justification.

I had reservations myself about the texting with the Viewty (just got one this week) as I specifically got it with a texter package on 3. I wasn't sure about the idea of a touchscreen for texting but I have to say although I started slow I'd say I'm nearly as fast texting on it now as my old phone (Sony T610). I like the haptic (vibration) feature on it so the keys feel a bit more tangible than justsimply touching a screen. I'm very happy with it although I know people who'd hate to text in that way (but they're a bit narrow minded if you ask me).
