After receiving a letter last week from these criminals stating that they were no longer chasing the debt as they couldn't source orginal paperwork, I received another letter today chasing a debt for nearly £4k for barclaycard - arrggghhhh....again I haven't had an account with barclays for over 11 years and certainanly heard nothing for more 10 years.
Shoudl I just send the prove it letter again...i am starting to panic again that they are going to send the heavies around.
Many thanks
Hi wookiesgirl, can we assume it's the same debt, and the Muppets don't know their A*** from their Elbow.
Are the account numbers and references the same? I certainly wouldn't panic the FSO will have fun with this one (so shall we) if it is the same. Harassment springs to mind for one.
Have a check and let us know on here. I will wait until we see what other responses you get. Then we will come up with a decisive reply.

It would appear its not the same debt, different references numbers and a huge difference in money but both with Barclays (well barclays and barclaycard), I did have an account with them which was closed in 1999 and I assumed in good faith. Heard absolutely nothing from them since and have lived at this address for 9 years...
It just makes me so angry  I assume there is a twerp sitting at a pc churning out these letters and phishing but uneccesary stress I need at the moment.
I lodged a complaint with FOS and OFT last time - so looks like I will be giving them another call.:rotfl:0 -
Send the statute barred letter and tell them to go and sit on a revolving pineapple.Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0

Don't Worry, I like the Chippy's responce. Me I like the softly softly approach. I understand now what's happened, I had similar but the DCA I dealt with were on the ball enough to hit me with both my personal loan and CC within a day or two of one another. So I have to make an educated guess that your OP was for an account with Barclays and this is with Barclay Card?
You treat this as an entirely separate issue, Send off for the CCA again. It's a pain I know, but the result will be the same as last time. They can't provide the paperwork and drop it, or they come up with something and you drop the SB on them. Better if they drop it.

You are right, current account and barclaycard so two separate accounts. Prove it letter all done ready to be sent recorded delivery tomorrow. The last time the amount was only small so me thinks that they may try to pay hardball with this one with it being nearly 4k....I can honestly say I never owed that.
These people really are the lowest of the low, don't know what I would have done had I not found this forum....
Here's hoping they drop it as quickly as the last one....
Thanks for the advice....0 -

Just to be certain in my own mind this is relating to a CC debt? Cos you have mentioned Current account? The reason I am asking is that Current accounts and Overdrafts are not covered in the same way as loans. In my case the DCA said I had a current account debt of 20K implying overdraft. (not covered by CCA). I didn't admit liability but told them they must be talking about a loan which would be covered by a CCA, as I had never ever had an overdraft of more than a couple of hundred.
Still no need to worry, just watch out for the technicalities. That's what we are here for.:D

No. Do nothing. If you have proof the original letter you sent was received, leave it at that.
It's the company's problem to act upon it, and if a dispute letter's been sent, report all concerned to the OFT, the FOS and Consumer Direct.0 -

Don't send the CCA request again if it's been sent once already - the first company should've acted upon it, so refer said company to whoever got the CCA request.
And no, don't send them a copy of that request - the company that got the original request should have forwarded it on to the original creditor, and that was what the £1 postal order was for.
I'd be all for reporting all concerned to the OFT, the FOS and Consumer Direct - the debt is in dispute, collection activity is still going on, and it's absolutely not on.0 -
thanks everyone,
have sent request for CCA as this letter showing completely different reference number and barclaycard vs barclays.
Will keep everyone updated
