No Ceejaydee, it was worded a little differently, it said that they had contacted the orignal creditor to obtain documention but original creditor were unable to provide the information and as such the matter was closed and they would cease collection and no further contact made.

CeeJayDee23, something else to bear in mind now that the debt is in dispute - under the ODT debt collection guidelines, a debt in dispute must not be passed on to another party, so you should not be hearing from anyone else until they supply you with the CCA.
Not always 100% true in the case of requesting a CCA.
If the ONLY dispute is failure to provide the CCA, then they can pass the debt on to someone else.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well will be interesting to see if we do get what we've asked for, but after all this time i doubt we will! So £15 a month back in our pockets will be a big help! and if we do the same for his other debt he is paying for via a DCA then it could be another £10 a month back into our coffers.0

Would you happen to know if in my case that they have closed the case as unable to obtain the CCA whether or not they are able to still sell on the debt? last account i had with barclays being 12 years ago so well and truly statue barred

In theory they could, but as Aktiv have recently been in trouble with the OFT I would hope they wouldn't try that after saying the case is closed.
If it did go to someone else, they would be in the same position as Aktiv. Powerless.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Good.
If they pass it on, then it may technically be legal to do so.
BUT, it may not be "fair" according to the OFT etc. So complain if they do.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
