Isn't it convenient for AK that a charge was allegedly made to the card in 2005, which may have been a little less than six years ago?
If the alleged debtor lived in Scotland, would the spurious charge have been "applied" in 2005, 2006 or 2007?0 -
Hi!
So far I haven't heard anything else in writing from AK, but it has only been less than one week. However, I have missed a call from the following number 01625 869578. I deliberately didn't answer it as my first (and scared!) thought was it could be AK Kapital. I have googled the number but nothing relevant comes up.
Am curious to see if anyone else experiencing problems with AK have had calls from this number...
Thanks!:o0 -

Hi cloud, early days yet. Don't worry about them calling you, if they do there are things you can do to stop them. I had a look at the number you quoted on Who Calls Me ( a very useful site) and the number is unknown so It could be a spam or marketing call. Maybe someone else on here has come across the number?
Keep us posted.

Hi Handy,
Thanks so much for your input. I guess I am just getting too panicky as I don't trust these people! I will of course keep everyone posted. The website you mentioned is very useful too - thank you!

Hello again
I have received another letter from Aktiv Kapital this morning offering me 35% discount on 'my debt', and are now asking me to pay £927.50 of the £1426.93 they say I owe.
I did not anticipate receiving a discount as I understood the first letter to be a 'pay up or else' situation.
Any suggestions on what to do next would be gratefully received.
Thanks!0 -
The account would have been opened between 1997 and 2000, and not accessed since. Other than the Thames Credit phone calls approximately 10 years ago, I have not had any correspondence regarding this debt.
Which letter did you send them in the end?
This one?

Hi Fermi,
I haven't written to them yet as I decided to sit back and see what happens. They sent me the original letter I previously mentioned followed by the one today.
Any suggestions on which letter to send them now I've had a discount letter from them?
Thanks!0 -
Well, you think the debt would be statute barred, yes?
If so, then you can either continue ignoring it, or send the letter in the link in my previous post.

If you are also not sure that the debt they are after is your one, then there is a slightly different one here:

Up to you really what you do.
If they are offering discounts like that then they are obviously chancing their arm over the debt.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi Fermi,
Thanks so much for this. I think I will send them the second letter.
The letter they sent me was addressed to me as my maiden name. I am reluctant to sign the letter as my marriage name. Should I sign the letter as my maiden name?
Thanks so much, all help greatly appreciated)
