Its not just the value ranges though this week. Cooked chickens for £2.00. Red grapes in a carton 75p. CHeaper than the loose grapes. (Trouble is you get extra packaging!). In the value range my son loves the ginger biscuits and my daughter the bourbons. As said before, once in a biscuit tin, no one can tell the difference!

Yes i noticed this too, maybe theyre promoting the value range, dont know if theyve taken the products out of theyre usual spot in the aisle but would have thought that would be extra work though, could be dual locations mind

  • Hi,

I went shopping yesterday and was, like the rest of the UK I think, trying to cut my shopping bill.

I came across Tesco Value dishwasher tablets £1.78 for 30 - at least half the price of the Tesco 5-in-1 ones I usually get so I thought I'd give them a go.

They work just as well as the other ones! We washed a whole load of dishes including a tin which I'd baked enchiladas in and it all came out lovely and clean!

    So give them a go!!!

Can vouch for that - I posted a few weeks ago about the Which report which gives them the thumbs up. I tried them and they do the same job as the branded ones at 3x the price.
Our Tesco is arranged the same btw - all Value at the front.

and it is disgusting, metallic smell and taste. (Usually drink tropicana). Then tried Aldi chilled, it was lovely and at least 40p cheaper than tropicana; although admittedly 50p more than tesco value.

Have been toying with the idea of a "taste test" coffee morning where everyone brings a different brand of an item, and then everyone does a blind test and votes. Has anyone ever done this?
  • Its hit and miss with Value stuff. Like others, I would never buy Value eggs or meat - its just not worth it. Value bread and spirits I also wouldn't buy. They may be cheaper but if you dont enjoy them then its money wasted.

I agree that a lot of Value stuff does the job perfectly. I think feedback on here will help people decide which value are really worth it!

Our tesco has done a "value" display of value bread, value beans, value peaches and value loo roll. Its been like that for a week now so doubt theyre extending it lol!Personally for price and quality I prefer smartprice.

just a thought- if you go in store and stock up in the "value" aisle, you may actually be missing better buys. Sometimes the value is NOT any cheaper than the regular Tesco stuff or even branded things which may be on offer. Always check price per gram/litre cos sometimes they try to trick us!
