Not strictly true, the customs limit for GIFTs from the US is just £36 so if the value exceeds this then you will still get charged vat and duty on the goods.
The only way round this would be for them to lie on the customs declaration. This could result in prosecution (although unlikely) and customs have been known to open packages they feel may have been inaccurately declared. Finally if you undervalue the item then if the package goes missing then the insurance will not pay out the full value of the item.
The bottom line is that without commiting fraud or importing the goods physically personally (or breaking the nano up in to pieces less than £18 in value and posting) then there is no legal way to import them from the US without paying the excise!

Have you received your invisibleshield yet, as I have just ordered a Nano for my Daughter and I would like to know if they are any good?.Eiteews wrote:We ordered an InvisibleSHIELD to hopefully protect ours. I've heard they're good and they have a lifetime warranty but I've not put that to the test yet
Some people are selling covers like the invisibleshield on Ebay but I belive they are a waste of money. So let us know what you think of the invisibleshield.0 -

As an ex Customs Officer dealing with imported parcels, DO NOT get someone to misdeclare the contents or value of a package being imported. ALL are presented before customs for external examination and can be selected to be opened. If the contents dont match the description and value, or are suspected of not doing so, they will be seized pending proof of value from the importer. If the value or description is found to be incorrect you could be asked to pay up to 100% of the value of the goods as a penalty if indeed it is offered back to you at all.
If you think getting round customs is as easy as simply writing GIFT, you are wrong.0 -

Yes its def. worth the money, it doesn't obscure the screen at all and it protects pretty much the whole iPod nano. It arrived from America in less than a week. Our only concern was that it was quite fiddly to put on - but now it's fitted it looks good and we're certain it'll give excellent scratch protection.
We've combined ours with an official nano Tube which we received this morning, I think its a perfect combination because the invisibleSHIELD protects the screen from scratches and the tube (hopefully) protects it from knocks! We got ours from Apple but I've seen them appearing individually on ebay now and are reasonably cheap.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Take that bloody hat off will you?0 -
Thanks Eiteews,
Does it stop the wheel from working with the volume etc, the reason I ask is that some of the protectors you can buy do have that problem but I am not sure who makes them.0 -

No, all the controls still work properly even with the nano Tube on top which adds yet another layer over them!Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
