OS daily thread Thursday 1st May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone :hello:
Just checking in before I scoot off to work. I hope everyone is well today and ((((((hugs)))))) to those who aren't or who need a hug.
I'm still tired after my massive cooking session last night, still at least it means I have dinner for the next few nights ready so that all helps.
Dinner tonight will be Irish stew, made last night as well as it always tastes better the next day, anyone know why? Lunch today for me will probably be a sandwich on the run somewhere.
Weather here is wet this morning so I'm hoping it starts to settle down otherwise I'll be like a drowned rat by the end of today.
Will check in later, providing I don't come home and fall asleep!!

Morning Arkonite - you've obviously gone to get the sticky!
SMOKY - (((Hugs))) to you and the LOs.
PENPIN - (((Hugs))) to you; hope you have a good day today.
MRSMIX - hope your Dad is feeling better.
(((Hugs))) to all those feeling poorly.
JACKIE0 - have just caught up with yesterday's thread. I'm so glad the last chemo session is over for you. Onwards and upwards from now on! How you've coped with it all, I'll never know.
CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello: I think you rival my DGS in your worship of Chelsea FC!! He, also, was thrilled to bits at the score!
MARTYN - when do we get a photo of the new lingerie?
Well, I've been up a while surfing around the net; I've found a lovely recipe that I shall make for pudding this evening when DS2 and his bride-to-be come round for dinner.
MANCHESTER TART
Fill the bottom of a pastry case with 2-3 tbsps strawberry jam, cover with a layer of sliced banana (optional), then a layer of custard (half a pint), then top with dessicated coconut. Chill in fridge for an hour. Enjoy! It sounds really yummy and will make a quick pud.
For dinner, I'm doing Spaghetti Bolognaise mainly because it's so easy to do - I'd much rather be talking than cooking something too complicated when I have guests!
I was hoping to have the whole day in today to get on with w**k but I have to go to the bank to pay in a cheque. No doubt I will get waylaid by the lure of the charity shops! I'll have to catch up on w**k when I get back.
Well, I'd better go and get breakfast organised.
See you all later.

Morning all
What an inspiration you are to us all JackieO.
Hugs to Smokey, PP & Mrs Mix.
I did something really mean & spiteful this morning, completely by accident & I'm still sniggering about it. Hubby & I were up just after 4 as he's working in Kent today & tomorrow & it's not easy to get to by train & arrive before 7. So I dropped him off part way there & he was collected by a workmate & taken the rest of the way. Katy must have heard us moving around & thought I was getting ready for work, she leap up & started rushing around like a scalded cat until she realised how early it was, lol. By the time I got home at 6 ish, she was back in bed again!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs
Hester

I'd love to be able to vote, but no elections here

Errrr, wouldn't like to say............  :silenced: :shhh: :doh:I'm sure someone will be along soon with a definitive answer to your question. Well done :kisses3:
Rzl - did you eat all the pudding:drool:
Just had an e-mail from DH. He's in Beijing waithing for his flight home :j :T I have choir tonight, and he won't be back until after that  We're rehearsing Rhythmn of Life........................with actions
Day off today, so some card making, baking, ironing, and a general tidy of upstairs.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning all
We are all early birds today, nice morning with blue skies (sorry N9eav). Work today, so do I risk pegging out my washing  Pasta for luch, and chilli for dinner. I'm going to cook it before I go, and I think we will have jacket potatoes and some salad with it.
Amie, good luck with weigh in, hope you have lost loads
Hester, had to laugh about Katy, I think I would have packed her bags by now. You should be able to write a bestseller about her antics  You could call it "What Katy did next", or has that already been done
Happy day for Chelsea fans, hope you haven't all got sore heads.
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Happy Obby Oss day, N9EAV!
AMIE - how on earth can you keep a giant snail yet not like lovely little frogs?!!
HILSTEP - I'd never heard of Manchester Tart until I found the recipe - it looks delicious, I can't wait to try it!
I need to get some petrol - do I need to take out a second mortgage for it, I wonder? I also have voting but it's in the local scout hut - much to the disgust of the local children who were hoping for a day off school! It's bank holiday on Monday so they'll have a long weekend off.
No rain here at the moment and it looks as if it will stay that way for a while, fingers crossed.
Oh, well, DH has just left for work - I need a shower but I always give him ten minutes in case he has forgotten something and comes back. I think I'm safe now - see you all later.

Lovely day here on the Planet Thanet.
N9EAV Obby Oss day looks like a great excuse for people to dress up and get drunk. I used to live in Whitstable and was one of the original fish slappers at the oyster festival. Those were the days:D .
JACKIE O glad everything went well.
Hugs to all who need one especially SMOKEY and PENPIN.
Another busy day looms. Am off to the allotment for an hour to plant my onions, might try and get my garlic, carrots and spring onions in too. Will try some companion planting, which always worked in the past.
Need to find a VIctorian costume today for DS to wear to school tomorrow, so shall have a quick trawl around the charity shops. Am going to a friends house for tea, so at least I don't have to think what to cook!
Have a good day all.

Hi everyone,
First day back after our camping trip to Bakewell...
No internet access since Sunday! How did I manage...surprisingly well actually....though I did have torrential rain, frost and a 6 and 7 year old to deal with!
Reflected on past holidays and how much the kids appreciate cheap cooked food compared to meals in a restaurant - and I like it because they can pronounce that they're full without me seeing £ signs fluttering before my eyes.
"Hester, had to laugh about Katy, I think I would have packed her bags by now. You should be able to write a bestseller about her antics  You could call it "What Katy did next", or has that already been done." hmm...our Katie's got her own agenda full stop.
Went to a Farm Park in Matlock yesterday which was good value...the entrance prices go up today which made me smile....they had little pygmy goats that the girls went nuts over...especially a little cute black one that could stick it head through the fence to be handfed in peace while the others jostled around fro the rest of the food.
Had to check that the goat hadn't been smuggled under Katie's jumper to be rehomed near our hens.
Right, must go, lots to do and surfing to catch up on!
Best wishes to all and hugs to those that need them. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
