Did you read what i was saying?

To get that sort of saving i'd have to take 6 jerry cans with me in the boot (which pc plod would take a dim view of), and take the car up there pretty much on empty.

Then you're into the realms of filling the car from a jerry can on the street / driveway, plus the cost of the jerry cans in the first place.

Then factor in it is probably a 1.5 - 2hrs return trip, probably at a weekend, how much is a couple of hours of your weekend worth?

That amount of fuel would last me a month or so, so i'd be saving 90p a day by doing it. Sounds like a lot of hassle for 90p a day does it not? Easier just to drive a bit less.
Its not pc plod you need to worry about. If stopped by customs even 6 gerry cans may be classed as smuggling diesel.Your car could become the property of HMRC and and disposed of legally.
Any saving should therefore be based on the running tank capacity. Make sure you buy from a reputable source as fuel pumps are an expensive item to replace.

Yeah i should have put customs too, as its them that are the problem. Yes, it was taking that risk into account amongst the other things i put above too drew me to my conclusion that it wasnt worth the £28 saving.

Just noticed unleaded petrol down from 117.9 at the start of the week to 112.9 today, thank **** for that, it's about time it started to come down a bit.

This was in East Belfast by the way.

Tesco is 130.9 ppl for diesel, with the discount voucher 125.9; I think the'll be getting my sustom for the next while. 5 minute trip for guaranteed fuel as opposed to an hour (plus 35 - 30 miles) to save 10 ppl on 'questionable' fuel.

Asda is £1.28 for diesel and £1.13 for petrol. I find it's nearly always cheapest....

  • Taxi driver told me today he was paying 95p a litre for diesel from a place near the airport, I think he called it Clarks. He claimed it was totally legit - he had a nice car and said it had been dipped by Customs and been in the garage for a service with no issues. Sounds just too cheap to be legal. Anybody else heard about this place?
