As our car is sick and off the road at the moment :( i did a tesco order online, delivered on saturday came to £75.16. Spent more than i was planning to but got several BOGOF's and half price bits before the offers finish, £8.13 in multisavers :D which was really good. Got a £5 off code from the codes/vouchers thread so that paid the delivery charge :D it's sooooo loverly to have someone else trudge round Mr T's on my behalf every once in a while ;) Then those naughty people at Mr T's sent me an email with another £10 off code :j (I posted the code on the codes/vouchers thread) so i'm gonna have to shop online again this week ;)

Will definately be over my budget this month but not by too much i dont think. I was a tad unrealistic with my budget in the first place so i'm not overly worried. I've bought quite a lot to carry over for next month too so am well stocked up.

Am off to make a lasagne for dinner as mum and dad are coming over. An 800g pack of mince has made meatballs for 2, shepherds pie for 2 and now a lasagne for 4! Thats 8 portions in total :T I would have used that amount of mince to make only 4 portions before so am well pleased :)

Thanks fellow GC'ers you are all :A

Thanks. I spotted a link to marks & spencer on the Paypal website and hoped there may be some cheaper supermarkets on the net who accept paypal. M&S is probably just for the clothing or something anyway. Darn it. I have money in my paypal account which I don't want to transfer to my bank account as it will get swallowed up.

Just popping in to update on my spends....I think I've over-estimated my target for this month (£180) as I've spent only £60.25 in the first two weeks. :D Technically I'm only at the start of the second week but I'm away for most of it, and there's plenty in anyway. The only thing we really need is toilet roll, but again, as we're away I think it will just about last till the weekend.

This is what I do-if I get the bargains in the week I take the items off of my online order and if necessary, I postpone it until its necessary. Just need to rresearch the ipoints system now as i don't have a clue!

What a good idea. I usually do a once a month shop online using mysupermarket for the dry goods/packages/tins etc. I have a 'favourites' list which I usually tinker with. But it's a good idea to try and spot bargains in the month and then tick them off. Trouble is I am usually in such a rush doing my supermarket weekly shop that i don't have time to spot all the bargains! Perhaps I should make the time and save more money!

Have been down to the local car boot sale this afternoon to have a look round and only bought one plant for the garden (not from the GC budget so technically a NSD!). I shouldn't need any more shopping till Thursday - or if i am very good Friday! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Enjoy what's left of the day everyone.

PS Does anyone have a recipe for HM beef burgers? My kids are very fussy and I struggle to find things they will eat. Alot of the recipes on here they wont eat. I am experimenting a bit but have to be careful or it goes to waste.

Imagine its a combination of mince, breadcrumbs, flour and egg.

    Thanks

I have used this recipe a lot and everyone in my family loves it - which as we don't ever eat bought burgers or go to MacDonalds etc is quite an achievement!

    Beef and mushroom burgers

    Serves 4
    1 small onion chopped
    150g small cup mushrooms
    450g lean minced beef
    50g fresh wholemeal breadcrumbs
    15ml (1tblsp) tomato puree
5ml (1 tsp) dried mixed herbs
    flour for shaping
    salt and pepper

Finely chop onions and mushrooms (I use a food processor but you can do it by hand). Add the beef, breadcrumbs, herbs, tomato puree and seasoning. Mix well together/process until well combined. Divide into 8-10 pieces and press into burger shape using lightly floured hands. Cook in a non-stick frying pan or grill under a hot grill for 12-15 minutes turning once until evenly cooked.

This is a recipe from the Low Fat flip books for cooks edited by Anne Sheasby. I vary this recipe sometimes, eg use white bread crumbs if I don't have wholemeal, leave out the mushrooms or use less and substitute red lentils. I usally use a bit more tomato puree - but you can tell if the texture is right when you process it and can adjust as required. These freeze well uncooked - I wrap in baking parchment so they can be separated and I can take out 2 or 4 or whatever's required at a time.

    Hope you enjoy them.

Benn to Morrisons this morning and spent £69.48! Not sure whether they're just a lot more expensive than Asda where I tend to get most of my things from or whether it's just the price increases.

Oh well, I shouldn't have to buy anything but bread for the rest of the week!
