Huh. Am finally ready to declare my total for April - budgeted £50 (for purposes of storecupboard challenge), spent £108.33   and ended the month with my cupboards and freezer jammed solid with stuff!
I think we'll draw a line under that and get on with May, which - as I've already stated towards the beginning of this thread - is a second attempt at the storecupboard challenge.Operation Get in Shape

OK thisis my first time and in effect I have already done a week of shopping as pay day for us is last Friday of the month. Please put me down for £200 for two adults and a toddler. This is are normal budget however we never stick to it and spend double this. Last week I spent £32.11 at Asda and have spent 72p on ham, £3.98 on lamb and £1.99 on Sausage and £1.49 on dishwasher tablets. So all in all under budget for this week. I will meal plan this weekend again and go shopping on Tuesday.0

Just popped by to update sig. Spent £2.80 in Aldi on milk and F&V, and £4.88 in Somerfiled on loads of whoopsies (minced beef slices 32p, stir fry 27p, etc
) most are stuffed in the freezer
.
I'm trying not to buy too much stuff as we are going away for week next Sat so I've meal planned meals until then, most of which are coming out of the freezer.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend and congrats to searching me :j0 -

Tesco do a strawberry 'angel delight' for 3p per sachet, but no other flavours. Do Asda do different flavours? I may be passing an Asda next week and it might be worth a look in.
TIA FFM
Hiya Funky, I only saw strawberry sorry, that's my favourite thoughI think they have choccy ones in morrisons for about 8p if that helps at all. Not as cheap as strawberry in tesco/asda, but still a lot less than 40p for angel delight branded ones

Hello everyone! I'm going to try and post more on this thread to hold myself more to account. So far this month, since last Saturday, we have spent £65.43 out of £250. This is still a little  , as the monthly online 'dry goods' order and payment for the vegbox don't come out of the budget til the 15th, but I don't think it's too bad.
I haven't included the curry we ordered last night, as that was medicinal - my little bean was due on Wednesday, and has not yet made his appearance. We are trying every old wives tale for encouraging labour, but nothing so far.
Added to this, the hot water seems to be busted, and I have been OS-rubbish since Thursday! Forgetting to make the bread, or take anything out of the freezer. It's annoying, because I did awesome things with rubber chicken earlier in the week.
Tomorrow is sunday dinner with the family, and then I have to do some amazing meal-planning. Got plenty in the freezer, and cupboards, and I've got fixings for HM pizza, so no excuses really.
My veg box this week included an aubergine, which I have never cooked before, but I have found a recipe for a pate to try - will report back to you all. I also have some courgettes, and will be attempting the muffin recipe with those.
I've seen mention of meatloaf (sorry, can't remember who!) and have been meaning to give this a try - can we have a recipe?
That's enough of a ramble for now!

Hi there,
Congrats to Searching me on the news! :j
Welcome to all the newbies, there are lots of tips and ideas on here to help you spend less on food and yet eat better and healthier. Don't be afraid to ask questions either - we don't bite!!
I have started my month's shopping with a trip to Sainsburys, Morrisons and Asda, but was very dissappointed with A's meat deals this month - especially the beef joints at 2 for £10. There was no indication of which cut the meat was, and I suspect it was a cheaper cut like brisket which would make the joint quite expensive per Kg (other cuts were sold seperately and labelled).
In fact I have been quite unlucky with the whoopsies recently - nothing to shout about, so while I have spent £61.66 there's not much meat there for meals. I do have 1.5 kg of chicken breasts, a 700g turkey breast joint, pork loin joint, 750g leg of lamb, sausages and fish in the freezer so it might not be too bad, just need to buy mince - I have all the padding bits just need the meat!
I have a mountain of rice, flour and passata too so we won't starve!:D
I am going to go to T's or lidl tomorrow for fruit and bread for the week, and as DS1 is off school on study leave I will be making snacky things so he does not open the fridge and eat whatever is there  (something defrosting for the evening meal or the week's sandwich meat for an example).
I am off to update my sig so I hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend!
Oh and MrsM - I think I will give your date and pineapple bars a go too, let you know how they turn out.
Bye, MrsB.
It's only a game
