It's amazing how your perceptions change isn't it. When DH told me the other night that the main weekly Mr T shop had come to £26, I took a bit of a gulp. And yet this time last year we were spending £60!!:eek::eek:

We've been using lots of lentils and beans and started using TVP, and we've found that we've really started to go off meat. My mum doesn't understand though and keeps buying us steaks & lamb chops etc coz she worries about us getting enough protein. I want to get more into eating fish now although my culinary experience is quite limited, partly because I worry about 3 yr old eating bones... I usually just do tuna pasta, fish pie or salmon en croute or with pasta. I find fish cakes are a bit of a faff but might give that another go.

Has anyone got any suggestions for expanding my repertoire of fish dishes? Any ideas appreciated.

Thank you all for contributing to the GC, it's invaluable. :T:T:T

    Hello,

Gosh this thread grows fast having difficulty keeping up!! I love reading all your posts they really give me that extra push i often need. I went and did a weekly shop at tesco and sainsbuy's spent £49.90 in tesco and £17.97 in sainsbury. Got some good dealThat is sorted for the week plus a months worth of nappies, I will dig out the washable's this week i got lazy over the the winter because it was enough drying all our clothes in the dryer let alone nappies. So 2 pack of nappies will last the month as i only use them when DS3 is a creche or playgroup.

I don't cook a lot of fish but my favourite from the shops is cod in butter sauce, with mashed potatoes and peas.

However, I have bought a packet of white fish fillets (not cod) and intend to use some of them with a butter sauce and some fish fingers and fish cakes with the rest.

I don't like any other fish though.

    :hello: Evening everyone.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the nice weather.

Popped to MR M as i mentioned yesterday for some teabags.
    Actually ended up spending £9.48.
This means we have just over £100 to last til 29th May which i think we can manage.

    For anyone thats interested
    Typhoo teabags 160 £2.59 BOGOF.

I had a wander down the pasta aisle and there wholewheat lasagne sheets are still 67p so i bought a packet.
They were also selling wholewheat pasta shapes BOGOF suppoed to be £1.09 per bag:eek: .

I dont normally buy white pasta but I noticed the value pasta twist were selling for 19p each so i cleared the shelf and grabbed the last 3 bags.
I hae decided to mix these with the wholewheat pasta I have already stocked up on. That way it will last longer.;)

Finally made some that look nice and taste nice, cooked on the inside not hard on the outside, nice and light.

Big thank you to Shaz for the recipe

I've been trying to make a decent roll since I got the breadmaker in January, need to progress to a loaf next.

    Thanks so much:T

well i managed to make a gi-normous pan of veg soup this afternoon...it made 14 portions to go in the freezer :j

i also made 2 meatloaves....they're waiting in the fridge to be cooked tomorrow, then i'm gonna slice them up, have some for tea, then freeze the rest. i only meant to make one, but by the time i'd bulked the mince up (;)) its made two, so feeling pretty chuffed about that

done my meal plan for this coming week now, and hopefully i'll only need a sack of potataoes, toilet rolls and generally just bits and bobs. its my last day of my weekly challenge tomorrow, and i've still got £30 in my purse :j thats going straight into my sealed pot so i'm not tempted to spend it !!

    Hi

We had a BBQ today so my idea of not doing any shopping until Tuesday was a bit ambitious  . It was a very nice reward for working most of the day in the garden so i'm not too concerned. I spent £16.07 which leaves £133.93.

It was lovely to get out in the garden and see some sun. Ds2 didn't want to come in:rolleyes: .

    Going to update sig now.

I have just had a personal apologetic phone call from sainsburys for the way I got treated the other day (accused of nicking someone else's shopping and made to empty my own 4 wheel trolley to prove I had not taken it:eek: ) and a £20 voucher to go and spend instore on anything I want 'to cheer myself up' the lady so I am cheered and cleared:D and £20 up bonus:D

I should blinkin' well think so too! For the upset and embarracement they caused you it's the least they could do. Enjoy spending your voucher :D
