Yesterday was a no spend day (apart from herbal teas at airport, sending gilliana on her way, and then chai tea latte and shortbread for me in St*rbucks -but I'm not counting them out of this budget
)
Today hoping for NSD as well.
Might just get myself motivated to plant some of my mixed salad leaf seeds. Will buy some tomato plants soon and hope for bumper crop!
Menus planned for week, most coming from freezer (thanks gilliana) so hope to stay out of the shops this week. Will have to get some more fruit for our packed lunches, and running low on marmalade but hopefully that will be just about it.
Not sure what to do with the parsnips from the veggie box. I will make some into soup - have a Cranks recipe for parsnip, apple and something else soup that I was always tempted to make but never got round to it. In fact that might use them all, as I think there are 4. I love roast parsnips but can't think what i would have them with re this week's menu plan. Will they keep until Sunday (got them on Wed, very earthy and look in great shape!)?0 -
Hi, I would like to join in this as well.
I saw this last month so last month I saved every receipt but didn't really have any budget in mind. So our budget for this month is £387.50. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children (8,7 and 1) and 2 cats.
Even though we get paid 4 weekly we are going to to this from 1st-31st of month.0 -

Do you just use ordinary porrige oats? Which lentils do you use? I need some ideas as dh likes his meat!
I have spent 9.77 at ASDA -dh went and didn't use coupons!!!!!!!
Also today I spend 1.52 in Tescos.
Do you include you toilet roll and stuff in food and groceries or do you have a seperate budget for that?
Jak
Yes, I mean ordinary porridge oats - I used Tesco Value Oats @ 59p/kg. The lentils I used were Tesco Red Split Lentils @ 68p/500g. I added the lentils so that they got 30-40 minutes simmering time and the oats I added very close to the end, they were probably in no longer than 10 minutes.
I include everything I buy at the supermarket in my grocery challenge (except OH's beer).

I do envy you folk with Aldi, Lidl, Asda etc within reasonable radius:o Still......nowt can be done unless we move house:p
No1 had Iggie whilst I took Pup over to the local shops yesterday----took hours cuz everyone wanted to ask about Ed, but it was good training for Pup & meant I had to carry the shopping so couldn't get more than absolutely necessary:T Iggie was supposed to be walking on her lead, but the crafty minx realised last summer, that she can scoot up yer trouser leg & get a piggy-back; they like being high up, so No1 was wearing a fetching green-camouflage hat with a five foot tail...:rolleyes: ...think Davy Crockett without the fur:rotfl: :rotfl:
So yesterday's spends were £2:32 for spuds, bramley & pink lady apples---the doggie choc drops will be made into crispy cake for him:whistle:
Happy Star Wars Day!..............May the FOURTH be with You:eek: :dance: :wall: :rotfl:
