Thanks for all the yoghurt suggestions. I have now baked a lemon drizzle cake and a chocolate yoghurt cake which I found a link for on the MSE site. Its here for those interested.

I have also bookmarked the naan breads as I am going to do them for our chicken curry in the week. Knew I could rely on you guys to come up with some ideas

Hmmm I hope I can stick to my budget this month. It doesn't look very good at the moment but I have stocked up on flour, lentils, toilet rolls and have enough meat and poultry in the various freezers to last the month now as well because I picked up quite a few whoopsies. It should just be fruit, veg and milk now for the rest of the month. Made a discovery of a weekend market in Newport and also one in Cardiff too so I will definately be visiting them on a Sunday morning for my veggies from now on. I was buying an organic box each week at £13 and was pleased with myself when I stopped that and discovered cheaper in Aldi, albeit non organic but now the market seems even cheaper.

    Hi everyone :hello:

Me and my 19 month old DS made some Twinks hobnobs today. He helped by [strike]eating the mix[/strike] patting it a few times for me and he threw some sultanas in aswell. They turned out very yummy :p and he said they were "NumNumNum" :)

We also made HM pizza for the first time. I used the Netmums recipe for the base (from the feeding kids book) It came out really well :j so we'll be having that again.

[rant] I'm a bit  with OH as he has decided that we dont need to be spending so little on our shopping !!?!! and he wants me to buy more carp!! I've done the online shop for this week that's gonna be delivered on Tuesday and it is probably gonna come to £100  cos he wants loads of snacky carp! I had got the weekly shop down to £50 for the last two weeks but if he wants to spend more I guess it's up to him?! It's his money! But he'll have to give me a lot more next month to cover it all! [/rant]

Hope you're all doing OK :)

    Hi angelnikki,

My OH used to be like that but I managed to convert him to OS snacks using some of the recipes from here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=480391&postcount=10
As long as he's got one savoury and one sweet tin to snack from he's happy!

No spend for me today and I should hope not I hear you cry after my mega spends!!!

Good evening one and all. Hope you are well.

I've not been around too much for the last couple but hopefully I'm around on a more regular basis now (groans from the gallery). Did O/K for April, came in about £10 under budget, so have set May's budget at the same weekly amount.

Went to town with DW on Friday as we needed to go to the banks and as M&S is next door (Tesco's is up the other end of the High Street and DW can't walk very far) we popped in to get some potatoes (Tesco's are rubbish), Came out with all the veggies for the weekend and it cost £7.36 . Now that may not seem a lot to you, but my usual bill at Mr T is around £5. Still at least I know we're getting a better quality, and this was proved when Sunday dinner came around .

Well TTFN and have a lovely frugal month

    Love the FM

Thanks for the link Kiwi :T there are some great recipes there. I do try and make our own as much as possible but I dont always have the energy as I have PVFS and my knees are killing me now from standing up all afternoon baking, so I'm gonna have to rest for the next few days with my feet up.

I think I might try some scones or muffins next week, could do some savoury and sweet ones of those. Trouble is whenever I make anything, it all disappears within a day or two!! I put the hobnobs in the freezer last time I made them and he kept eating them straight from frozen! I only had 1!! So looks like I'm gonna have to supplement HM with shop bought rubbish aswell as demand outstrips supply at the moment

i made a peach cobbler for pudding and it was delish, it was nice easy and most importantly cheap!! heres the recipe...

    PEACH COBBLER
1 tin of value sliced peaches 16p
    115g of butter/marg 30p?
    125 sr flour 3p
    200g sugar 16p
    1g salt 1p
    235 ml milk 15p?
    total = 81p

heat your oven up to 200c, put the butter in your dish and put in the oven to melt, once melted take out of oven and put tin of peaches into butter including the syrup/juice and space out the peaches.
mix all the other ingredients together in a bowl till you get a firmish batter then pour that evenly over your butter/peaches. it does look really odd but dont mix it, just stick it straight in the oven 200c for 35 mins or take it out once it looks golden and cooked.
this did 4 of us a huge portion each with ice cream or custard, oh asked for more as he really liked the buttery gooey caramalised peaches at the bottom.

I tried this today angchris, but it was a bit runny. The batter wasn't firmish at all and I think I should have drained off some of the syrup from the peaches. Having said that, it tasted great even if it looked a bit odd, and both my DH and MIL (always hard to please) said they liked it! Result!

Yesterday should have been a no GC spend for me but I bought the tin of peaches from Tesco for the above recipe so I'm off to add the extra 16p!

    Thanks
