The dreaded ice cream van called at the park. Having just frog marched the DDs on a 5 mile hike I couldn't really say no. £1.40 for 2 ice lollies.
Had a jaw dropping time at the garden centre whose "improvements" include a farmers market (glorified corner shop) with frozen handmade family sized lasagnes at £11.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
281273 - good luck for the op, I had the same thing 4 years ago only mine was not planned (ulcerated colitis - lots of pain:eek: )
I'm a bag lady now but it doesn't interfere with life at all though one of the girls who works for me thinks I should be on sick (her next door neighbour had the op and he seems to think there is no life after)
There is and I've just come back from a friends 21st birthday bash in Magalluf with lots of swimming and sunbathing.
Thinking of you0 -

I think all us grocery challengers should buy a small island somewhere... then we can have a huge community swap going on... I have over 150 lettuce/salad plants coming on..so we could keep everyone in salad...:p oh and i have 34 slips coming on my sweet potatoes so if they all grow once planted i should get 60-90 sweet potatoes :rotfl: oh and about 100 parsnips nomnomnom
Well everyone..hubby came home and placed this months money in my sticky little mitt..then sat shaking his head at me as i seperated €150 into 5 seperate compartment of my little tin -I know its not a 5 week month but i should be able to manage on €30 a week easily at the moment..the other €500 is off into the bank tomorrow..
To top it all we then had to nip out -hubby wanted to get some beer..using a bit of the extra €35 he earnt today in his lunch break working on other folks cars :j the normal currency is beer but as they couldn't be bothered to go and fetch a crate one gave him €20 and the other €15 and he only pays €5.99 for 20 half litre bottles of his fave beer :T .... so that is 5 crates of beer he has earnt today. and i didn't spend 1c:A
I just can't believe folks can't be bothered even when its going to save them moneystill its a bonus for us i guess:D
Hubby has been collared for duty on wednesday so will be gone until thursday morning..but then gets a day off...so we are off for a tootle round the golf course..which means i will have to pop into the Naffi on the way back in case there are any super whoopsies.. i now have made a gap of about 1/4 in my chest freezer.. so im ready just in case... although "i should only need fresh F+v":rotfl:

BTW what's happened to all the blokes, I'm sure we had a few, can't remember their names, where have you all gone.
Fear not mikeD, you're not aloneKeeping up with this thread isn't easy - it moves so quickly! I fell behind a long time ago and haven't had the time to read through all the posts
Here's my update:
This months mini-challenge was to empty the freezer, not quite managed it yet! I've meal planned for the next couple of weeks, and provided I stick to the plan I should be able to defrost the freezer on Sunday the 8th of June :rotfl: I'm not looking forward to filling it up again though, that won't be cheap
Hoping to come in underbudget this month, only five days to go and I'm pretty sure I don't need to buy anything :T
I've not had to buy any meat (due to running down the freezer) which has made it so much easier to stay on target. I might have to rethink the target for June. Or become a veggie lol0 -
Mrs MC....
After adding a few whoopsies to my May total I would like to declare at £156.20. As I think I have already said my target for June is £180.
I noticed in your previous post that you are growing sweet potatoes. I love these and they are very expensive, so if you could share any info on how to go about growing them I would be very grateful. Thanks :A0 -
Hi Everyone!!
Went to Mr T (again!) to pick up loaf of Hovis bread and explore the milk offer. Yes its true 2 x 4pints for £2 or 2 x 6 pints for £3. Very impressed. Picked up 2 four pints which we'll probably drink before we move onto the Cravendale from Asda.
Since its was the last 10 mins before closing also picked up:- Cherry tomatoes 34p
- 2 packs of Finest Marzinino tomatoes 15p each
- Pack of Value bananas 16p
- 3 small bottles of organic milk 20p
- 2 packs of mini carrots for 15p for both (still got buy 1 get 1 free at that price)
- Cucumber portion 4p
- Big Tesco Pizza for 48p
Mrs Mc-Just looked at GC Budget list and saw you'd put a little yellow clapping icon next to our total. That is so sweet. Thank you. xx
Take care

phew! 1.5 hours to catch up on all that I've missed! Been away camping for a few days - luckily we didn't have lots of plans cos it tipped it down with rain most of the weekend!
Anyway, I'm declared at £167.62 for May and will try for £150 for June please!
Went to Asda earlier for a few fresh bits and pieces and to try and do our main shop. £65.39 later we left againAh well, am trying to finalise meal plan but spent most of today feeling sick so god knows what I'm going to want to eat throughout June!
