Hi Everyone, :hello: Please can I join in?

I have been reading for a couple of months now, but not had the courage to join you.

Tried really hard for April and managed £407, for 2 adults an 2 children, (this included all lunches for school/work, toiletries and cleaning items). I know this will sound a lot to most of you, but we usually spend £480 - £500month, so I feel we did ok.

Please put me down for £400, did think about less but the freezer is quite empty so need to start with a big shop tonight.

Good Luck everyone, and thanks for all your inspiration.

It's so great to see so many new people this month - I've only been here a few months but have learnt so much from everyone so don't be shy about joining up. Everyone starts with much bigger budgets and it's wonderful to see how everyone saves themselves money month on month! Between us with our collective knowledge and support we can beat the increasing food prices :T

    Afternoon all

Well hubby went and collected me some lovely tubs n pots off a lovely army wife/mse lady this morning :j so now i have even more things to grow all my veggies in -including 2 black dustbins..so i will get more potatoes in there tomorrow :D just need even more compost tomorrow and then watch me go ;) .... have loads outdoors allready ...but far more living in the window bottoms..oooohhhh and loads more to start off :p
Got hubby to throw me out at the NAFFI....he hates going in "the bad place" and i hate taking him in too -so this way its a win win situation ;)

I can't get over the prices in there  although i did pick up a few whoopsies  ....but i was good -honest... i kept telling myself "fresh stuff only"... so i got
    1. 9 litres of milk
    2. 2x2kilo oranges
    3. 3 x250g really nice sliced roast beef
    4. oh and 2 packs of crabsticks -not whoopsed, but i had a fancying for them ;)
so spent €8.25 and it should have been €22.30 :T ....2 big bottles of milk have been wedged into the freezer and 2 packs of beef, and the other beef is going on a salad for dinner...
Had the luxury cauli/broccoli cheese with jacket potato for lunch... luckily i didn't warm it all through as it would have been far too much so half is left and i will get that used tomorrow...can't freeze it as i have no room :o

Still trying to decide what "goodies" i feel like making us this month  I will get there eventually... i have to find the balance between using what i have, and making stuff that we like -but that will keep so we don't end up eating "extras" instead of wasting them ;) although out of the 10 mini courgette muffins i froze...8 are still there :A :rotfl:

right i had better get off and have a rummage through my recipes..have a great afternoon everyone..best go and add to my signature;)

Spent the first of my May budget today, spent £37.20 in Mr S. Got all my meat for the month though, they had so many whoopsies:D The mince and stewing steak was on 'Buy 2 save £1.58', but the stuff i bought was reduced too so double bargain. All the chicken breasts were 1/3 off too so i stocked up. Seriously strong cheddar was also BOGOF.

Dont know if it is just my store, but Sainsburys seem to be changing their whoops labels from yellow to white? They are much harder to spot. Usually i can spot a yellow label a mile off:rotfl:

I failed completely last month :o It wasn't down to lack of food; I actually had enough to feed the Russian Army. It's just that I was completely disorganised and kept on buying new stuff instead of taking time to think about what I actually needed.

On the plus side, I *really* don't need to buy very much at all this month. I have plenty of cleaning stuff in stock and lots of food in the freezer. So, although I'd normally say I needed £150 for the month, I think I might actually be able to get away with £60. We shall see........

    Hi all

Right, just took a big breath and did my Asda shop on line

They will be delivering tomorrow afternoon so we will see what actually arrives

What I have done is order all my tinned goods, cleaning goods, heavy vegetables and packet stuff, hopefully enought to last the month.

I don't need any pasta or rice but did order some anyway as the prices keep going up.

Total at the moment if £102.80

Mind you there are 2 boxes of red wine in there as well, but only cheapy as I mix it with diet lemonade to make it go further ;)

    Me too!!

DS wanted a Hot Wheels comic, but I'd just paid for the car tax, so I made a hasty exit before being tempted myself.

:T Well done you, my 3 always want magazines, they seem to get more expensive every time too!!!

I would like to join in this month. There is me, hubby, son age 12 and 2 girls aged 2 and 4. Ive planned the meals for the month and have already frozen some so that should help. Please but me down for £220. That does include nappies and cleaning stuff and packed lunches for hubby and school kids.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I'm only just finding my way around a kitchen :o

Lots of you mention mixing oats in with mince to make it go further, what kind of oats do you use? Is there so special oats I need to buy or are porridge oats ok?
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j

Porridge oats are fine! Red lentils too.
