Good morning everyone:hello:
This was suppose to be another NSD today, but went into town and the local julian graves was having a half price sale on everything. So brought pack of 500g soup mix for 47p and bag of 500g popping corn also for 47p:D . Then popped into the towns Somerfield, which I don`t normal do, as I find that it`s more expensive then MrT. 400g Cath city cheese £1.99 and 500g Utterly butter 65p, so stocked up on these for fridge and freezer. So my grand total for today is £8.82p:eek:
Yesterday I opened a 800g pack of mince from the freezer, so far I have made:
4 mini burgers, kiddies had these last night.
mince mixture bulked out with onion, oats, pepper, tinned toms, red wine:D very yummy. This did 2 meals last night and another for OH lunch.
So I have 3/4 of the pack left, which must be cooked today.
I will cook this with just onion and toms and freeze into individual portions. I can then just take out what I need and bulk this out with what ever I want, each time. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Any way will get back to read what everyones been upto.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

Oooh I got a star! :T
Took advantage of a boring non-examinable lecture to do menu plan for next month should be better than May as have salmon and mince for June in the freezer. Runnin out of thing to do with chicken tho
So far we do chicken and veg
stir fry
pasta and tom sauce
green/red curry paste
with bacon, rice and tom sauce (fake paella)
value sweet and sour - still in cupboared to try next week to see if nice
pasta and white sauce
roast chicken breast - there are only two of us
fajitas
We have chicke at least twice a week if not 3 times. Does any one have and good recipies?
I can't eat fresh herbs, or alot of chilli or garlic. Also alergice to shellfish and mushrooms!
Have a mystery stomach condition that the drs can't work out, instead they just give me tabs to try! I have found cutting out/reducing the above has helped.
Thanks in advance for recipies0 -
mrsm :j :j :j on the weight loss you have lost more than me and I thought I was doing well:D
mandy-moo thank you for the reply will add the raisins as well later, I have on the go coconut cake, the hobnobs, dundee cake and at the moment making cornish pasties (only because I was going to make the corn beef pie but the pastry I have made will not stretch to the top and bottom to make the pie and I have after all this cooking finally run out of butter to make more:D ) that is enough cooking, someone said it is half term next week:eek: again?:rotfl: will have to make the bake day on sunday freeze it and get bits out as each day loads of kids descend on this house just to see if 'that lady down the road has baked some cakes':rotfl:
It is a shame that some mums just do not have the time to home bake, I have been known to run out of time with 2 kids, work OH, house work etc also but then again at 11pm at night you can find me in the kitchen:rolleyes:
Congrats to MrsM, That's amazing! well done :T :T :T
Victory I know what you mean about it being a shame that some mums don't have time to cook. I work 30 hrs a week Plus run a separate business that I'm trying to build up and have 3 kids to look after (including DH:rotfl: ).
Before getting on this site, we lived off takeaways and ready-meals, and I never cooked except pie and mash, etc. Now, because I have learned how to plan and I pre-cook a lot of stuff, we eat properly now and I involve the kids in the cooking of hobnobs, muffins, etc, which they take with their lunches (used to give them £3-4 each a day for lunch which they spent in the local shops  ) and they love it! My daughters 18 & my son 14 and they STILL love licking the bowls and having the first muffin or twink out of the oven.
Basically, it's all down to planning not time! we all have time for stuff if we want to do something, it just depends how we want to spend it. Stress makes people tired and that is another thing that stops us. I know I would get in from work and be shattered, just about make myself clean and tidy up, moan at the kids because of the mess and then fall into a chair in the evening in front of the TV.
Now I enjoy being in the kitchen again, I LOOOOVE the praise I get and also
excitement of my family when they ask 'OOH, what are we having tonight', and I have only just got into all this. It's now a buzz, where as before it was a chore, and I certainly have this forum to thank for it.
So, what I'm trying to say (instead of rambling on and on, he he,) is that we all need to get more people on here and teach old style to everyone - they will love it if they're given the chance!!!:D

Hi all,

For those who don't have a bread maker or the room to house one in their kitchen (me included) Sainsbury's are doing Wholemeal rolls packs of 9 at buy 3 packs for £1.00. So that is 27 rolls for £1.00 !!!!!
They freeze really well and defrost quite quickly are luverley
