    Evening all

Nipped out for some fresh yeast today..a few more salad bits and yet more fruit :o ....glad i had a lettuce in the fridge...ice bergs were €1.79 where i went today  about £1.35....so i came scuttling back and straight outside to set even more salad leaves :p i would rather have too many than not enough..especially at that price .... Off to ALDI in the morning as thats where i get most of my salad stuff from just hope they have some in..we get through at least 2 a week just for the 2 of us :p ..... i reckon i will be able to start fetching some salad leaves in within the next couple of days :j

Got a call from hubby to say he had got to his destination ok... and the lads in the mini bus he was in were raving about the "twinks" i sent with him... the 2nd mini bus however were not happy that they had nearly all gone before they found out about them :rotfl: so next time there is gonna be a fight to be in the same bus as hubby:rotfl:"ahhhh bless em..just like a bunch of kiddies" :p .......... mind he wasn't willing to share his chicken or cheese salad sandwiches... it seems the smell of HM bread had them all drooling:D

Have got so much more planted today..running out of potio and pots - need to wait for hubby coming back tomorrow evening to fetch me 10 bucket thingies for the remains of my tomato and pepper plants then it will just be topping up the succession stuff...determined not to get caught up paying a small fortune for salad stuff .. not with how much we eat ;)

I think next month im going to get a stock of pasta and bits again... not doing to bad here... 500g pasta shapes for 75c ..about 56p and 1 kilo rice for about 70p... but we will get through loads of pasta for salads over summer..

right i had better get off and get some more recipes read :D
    have a good evening all

Did a BIGGG shop in Adsa and Mr S today - £49.86:eek: I did get a load of stuff though, including food for a three course meal for four this weekend and a 10 portion batch of bolognese. I also got three bottles of wine from Asda for £10 - each individual bottle cost £6.98 so I thought that was a really good offer. Only half way through the month though now - going to have to be careful with the budget for the next two weeks! Got a few more things to get tomorrow then I'm going to hide my wallet from myself - maybe one of my dogs can bury it for me:p

Righto, off to update my sig - I hope everyone is well, I just don't have time to read all the posts, there's so many! (((hugs))) if anyone needs them:D

Topped up my shopping today-should have all i need until Friday except maybe milk.Spent about £23 today but that included fruit and 2 whoopsid chickens,2 whoopsied packs of steak, some bogof cheese on offer, and I managed to get a pack of 2 lettuces(cant remember the type but the tall thin ones) for 79p on offer in co-op(1/3 off) Instead of lettuce the other day I bought a bean mix and some bean sprouts-no way was I paying £1.25 or whatever! News headlines on one of the newspapers today was that its a race between the supermarkets to bring down the prices. Lets hope so! If we all vote with our feet by not paying it where possible, it will help. Total spend of £51 approx this week so far. So £24 left of my budget to last until Fri. New week starts Sat. I cant believe how well Im doing now Im back on here. So a big thanks to everyone who contibutes for keeping me inspired!
Nice chicken salad prepared for me to take to work tomorrow in one of my lakeland divided dishes of years ago.

    lettuce
    cucumber
    tomato
    half a small cooking onion
    sweetcorn
chicken that I cooked tonight(and some sweet chilli sauce on it).
    beansprouts
    some dressing(bogof in somerfield)

    an apple and a pear.
    I am being good tomorrow!

Just got to strip the chicken now and boil up the carcass for stock.
Scraps of dark meat for the cat-only skin and bones for the bin.

    Thanks everyone!

They are just playing safe by saying that! Only ever says on fresh food-chilled food for example. Generally a good date on ginger cake anyway. I would say you can freeze it! Contains eggs and sugar and its a normal cake after all so why not??? You can freezer far more than they will ever tell you. When I used to work in Iceland, when they reduced cakes which were on their last day, I always bought a great load and froze them It probably doesn tell you that you can freeze bread on your bread packet but its well known that you can. So yes-you can. All I can think is that the bakery staff know little about baking!!!

Have spent £12.60 on various bits and pieces, including mackeral 2 for £1 from the mackeral man in his van and asparagus from roadside stall for £1.40. Bargain, the joys of a summer in Cornwall!:j

    Hi Victory..

    Don't have a piccie..but i will try and explain myself a bit better :p

I have a metal set of measuring spoons that are very rounded..about like a golf ball cut in half, so i scooped the mix up wit that -dragging it up the bowl to flatten the bottom. Then i just walloped it on my hand to make it drop out and plopped it onto the baking sheet flat side down and firmly pressed down once with the back of a fork.
It meant i got nice even sizes and they were a bit thicker so lovely n moist in the middle- I got 42 out of it..if i had done them by hand i would probably ended up with some teeny ones and some huge ones... didn't want to cause a fight on the mini bus :rotfl: anyone would think it was full of toddlers not grown soldiers :p
hope that helps... next time i do them i will get a pic -just in case you haven't done them...

Hubby had a couple last night with his cappucinno ice cream...i had a little taste ..mmmmmm --hubby declared "ooh imagine different variations on the biccies with different ice creams":rotfl: ... so the next lot im going to swap the golden syrup for maple syrup for him to have with walnut ice cream :T
