My wife applied on-line as we are existing customers. She received a letter telling her it will be about four weeks before her ISA Account will be opened due to the high demand. She still has about two weeks to go.
  • I eventually got my ISA set up, but have a query, not sure if anyone can help.

Has anybody who DOESN'T have a Barclays current account been able to register for online banking in order to see their ISA details on the internet?
If you try to register for online banking, it will only accept your Barclays Current Account details. There is a helpline number, but when I spoke to them, they told me it wasn't possible - which I'm not too sure of.

    Anybody got any ideas?

Ha yeh I wanted to do this, as currently I have no idea how much I have in my ISA (lol), I know how much I have deposited so thats ok I can guesstimate.

I don't think it is possible though

    Wow - still no ISA

    its 4th of June

Its the 2 month anniversary of me applying and being told it would be done within a week. I have had NO letters, NO contact, but they do have me on the system (when I phone them). and NO IDEA OF WHEN IT WILL OPEN

I think busy times for Barclay are over. Me and my partner applied for ISA on 29-May (Thursday) and it's open today - 3rd of June (Tuesday) - so just 3 working days. Not bad.

I think you have been very lucky indeed!

Handed over our 2 cheques on 24th April at local branch. The manager assured me twice (I deliberately kept asking) that interest would be back dated TO THAT DAY and it would take 7-10 working days to open.

Still not open and letter today regarding my email complaint about the whole charade tells me "your complaint has been forwarded to a manager of the relevant area" (?) and I should hear from them by no later than 25th June.

I've already had a pretend bet with myself that the Isas will still not be open by then!

Not a happy bunny! My wife and I received our cheques and applications back this morning - for the second time!!!!!!

I have a formal complaint in already (made last week), and like others should hear after the 24th June (according to Customer Services, who at least confirmed that my compalint reference number existed).

However, I have no confidence whatsoever that if I send our applications back again (as advised by the branch where we applied on the 10th April) the result will be any different.

My reasoning is this - I am a current account holder (for 30+ years), but my wife is not - but we both got the same letter asking us to take in valid identification and address verification. My wife took this in at the time of application - I did not - having been an account holder for 3 decades or so they did not ask for it. Therefore what problem with the application could apply to us both?

Customer services say they can do nothing until the complaint has been processed, so does anybody here have any suggestions as to the best course of action please?

(sorry - this seems to have turned into a "vent", but this seemed the appropriate thread to post in (again!))

    Best regards

Mine was for the 4th June - today. A letter was received today saying that they haven't been able to resolve my complaint and I may now take it to the Ombudsman. I'm just sorting the forms out now but hopefully they will have received the complaint by Friday.
