just looked at my barclays current account online and noticed a new item, tax haven isa, with exactly 3600 in it opened today. So, wheres the interest? do they have that credited when its opened or does it take a couple of days to show the interest?

On past experience with last year's Tax Saver you will get interest credited on the 1st working day of the month so you missed June by a whisker.

hmmm but surely the interest since april should be there anyway regardless, since the interest from june needs to be compounded with the interest from april and may to get the required AER

You can ask them the question but my bet is that you will get the lot in one hit at the beginning of July. It will be good if I am wrong!

    Hi,

I´m fed up with Barclays´ poor service and incompetence. Applied for the 2008/09 ISA account around March 22nd but the account still hasn´t been opened. I complained to Barclays in writing, no reply received so far. Really disappointing!

Well, if Barclays doesn´t want my money, I will cancel the ISA application and open the account somewhere else. I am new in the country but I must admit I had never expected a UK bank to be so incompetent. I am glad to hear, though, that not all the banks are so poor as Barclays! :-)

    Good bye Barclays!

    Hi givemoney,

Out of interest - did you set up your standing order from your barclays current account or is it with another bank?

If it is a Barclays current account, how did you go about setting up the standing order, e.g. in the branch, via post, phone, or did you manage it in their online banking?

    Many thanks.

I think busy times for Barclay are over. Me and my partner applied for ISA on 29-May (Thursday) and it's open today - 3rd of June (Tuesday) - so just 3 working days. Not bad.

I am already a Barclays customer. When they send you the info on your ISA there is a form in there for standing orders. I filled it in and sent it off.

I did wonder if it would work bearing in mind their system of making everything as difficult as possible i.e. you cannot transfer money on-line from your current account to your ISA (how ridiculous).

Thanks - I have one of these forms but I was too nervous to send it off!
