  • Applied in March via telephone as an existing customer (mortgage current account), confirmation letter dated 20 March.

Then nothing. Called into two branches who could tell me nothing.

Yesterday, finally got through to the 'help' line, who said it was still showing as 'processing' and they couldn't understand why, so a team leader/manager would open the account that afternoon. And interest wil be backdated to 5 Apr.

I'll wait and see, as it's still not showing on my on-line banking.

    Been following with interest!
I went into Branch and deposited £500 to open account, had the letter confirming it was open dated 15th May. Went into bank to pay in more on 17th May . . . .. . ..hah hah . . .. . . . was told I can't pay directly into it and had to pay into my basic Barclays account and transfer . ... . . . so I did . . . . and it is still there over 2 weeks later . . . . . not left on way to Isa, or reached ISA! Now complaining about lost interest on this.

Another thing we wanted an ISA where we could pay in at branch and see it (rather than an anonymous online bank account) - was sold this one in Barclays on that premise - the man told us we could have a passbook or similar. Since found out we cant - and cant even pay money into it . . . . disaster. Seriously thinking about closing (just within the 14 days of receiving terms and conditions letter)
    2009 total raised £2373.60:j
the new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o
    2011 - 365 £ a day.
Life Changing October 2011 - DF & £10000 saved - twins came - no plans
2013 - twins now 14 mths old - lets get sorted!

right my Tax Haven Isa is finally open:beer:

i applied for this on 20th March (for this tax year 08/09) and it was finally opened with the cheques (one for £2.5k, one for £1.1k) credited on 27th May

as promised they have back-dated interest (29th May), for the period 6th April - 30th April @ £15.55. i reckon that is correct @6.31%

however the interest payment dated 2/6/08 is for £16.46 but i can't work this out? i reckon it should be more than £18??

    6.08/365 * 31 * £3615.55

what have you other folks got?

Applied on 22 May, got documentation showing account opened 27 May (note: Bank Holiday weekend between the 2 dates), and my cheque has been cashed. Brilliant! I had previously applied for, but not contributed to, the Abbey's ISA. Waited more than a month, not a dicky! Phoned their Customer (lack of) Service - absolutely abysmal, so I voted with my feet (or cheque for £3.6K!). Both banks started on a level playing field, as I already have ISAs, but nothing else, with both.
  • hi everybody

i had applied barclays haven cash Isa on 19th march for the last year (2007-2008). on 22th March i received the letter stating that after verifing my details they will send me a welcome pack. i alredy submitted all required documents to them and i was holding barclays credit card also so all the details where on there system. on 29th march they send me another letter that they can't verify my details so i have walk into the brach and resubmitted all my documents. again on 6th april i received one more letter fron him stating that they can't able to open my account bcoz i applied very late. now i had lodge complain against them bcoz now i can't invest my money for last year Isa. worst customer service i ever seen.
  • Hi Everyone,

just because you are a Barlcays customer doesn't mean they are any better. I opened my Tax Haven ISA in the previous tax year (albeit the last week) with a £500 deposit from my Barclays current account. The account was opened on the Monday of the new tax year and the money debited from my account...but it never made it to my ISA. It's now June and this still hasn't been resolved despite numerous phone calls and letters.

Anyone any suggestions for what I do next? I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that avoiding Barclays with a bargepole is the right thing to do!

    Cheers

    BD.

Applied pre April 6th 2008, money in current account waiting to transfer to ISA

    24 April Acct opened
1 May Interest gross including bonus of £0.69 £4.36
    2 Jun Interest £19.21

I was told that interest would be backdated.
Is it correct? Anyone got similar?

Barclays lost my 7 April cheque so this is what my statement looked like today:

Account credited with £3,600 on 15 May
    Interest credited on 2 June - £11.39

What is the formula to check how many days that interest covers please - is it £11.39/(£3,600*0.0625%/365days) which gives 18.48 days???

If so, no backdating in there so far.

just looked at my barclays current account online and noticed a new item, tax haven isa, with exactly 3600 in it opened today. So, wheres the interest? do they have that credited when its opened or does it take a couple of days to show the interest?

It has taken 8 weeks to get this far and the second i get my interest im transferring it out, as it will probably take them 6 months to do that.
