he probably looked at the big warning notice that is now on the best isa page about delays with a link direct to this thread, same as I did. far too late for a warning now.
im going to look at switching my current account as well now, but since i have a platinum account (due to previously also having a savings account so they upgraded me) i get a few good things from that, like no fees on foreign transactions as far as i can see on my statement, as well as free CHAPS transfers (although i cant do this online you have to go in to branch!). would need to find another with similar perks and good internet banking before i could dump em.
is there an email we can complain to barclays on?0 -
I opened my ISA on 09 April and was given a signed and dated receipt.
I was told the interest would be back dated to the 09 April.
I had to leave the money in a current bank account earning next to no interest for a month.
I have made an official complaint and been told it will take them 5 weeks  to investigate.
AVOID Barclays like the plague!Rob0 -

I HAVE JUST "TRAWLED" THROUGH THIS THREAD TO SEE WHEN I FIRST REQUESTED THAT PERHAPS MSE SHOULD PUT UP SOME SORT OF WARNING TO THE BARCLAYS TAX HAVEN ISA AND THE DEFINITE PATTERN OF SHODDY SERVICE BY BARCLAYS.
IT WAS ON 04TH MAY NICE TO SEE THAT IT WAS ACTED ON NEARLY AS QUICKLY AS BARCLAYS OPEN THEIR ISAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Hi we open our isa on 7th April and it took till the 8th of May for it to open. When I asked about it in the branch after 3 weeks, why it was taken so long, I was told that it would back date the interest after 14 days. When we opened it on the 7 th April we were told that the interest would be back dated to the date we opened it the 7th april. I challenged this when I was told about the 14 days. The mananger of the the branch did come back to me and told me I would received the interest back dated to the date we opened it . I had to go to the bank and I received £10.00 for 16 days interest I had lost. My Husband as well. I think if I hadn't challenged it and insisted i would not have got the interest do to us. Also another thing nothing on the isa correspondence to say how much was in the isa. I asked for a print out which was given. The branch were very helpful but I felt someone up the top had not taken on enough staff at the time to process the isa in the reasonable timescale and had changed the goal posts, if you don't challenged them they get away with it.0 -
Not sure if this has been asked previously but cannot remember seeing the answer and over the course of the past few weeks have read the majority of this thread.
I opened my account with 1K, and now want to top it up with a further 2.6K. However to do this I need to transfer 2.6K from a savings account to my current account (linked to cheque book) paying 0.1% interest. For obvious reasons I dont want this money to be left in the current account for any longer than is neccessary.
Can anyone with inside knowledge or experience please advise on how quickly the transfer will be made at current time.
Thanks

If Barclays were the last savings institute on the planet I still wouldn't trust them with my money. This latest fiasco is nothing new. I'm retired now, but my former employer, a huge organisation, used Barclays as their commercial banker for a while. I was regularly involved in meetings with their management, both at a local and central level, and a more incompetent bunch of Hooray Henries I have yet to meet.
It was clear from their attitude that they had no thoughts of providing customer service, only thoughts of when they could fit the next round of golf in. I can't imagine a more unprofessional organisation, and they are never going to see a penny of my money.

since you work for their ISA department, can you explain how my application of 9th April has not been opened yet, when other applications 2 and 3 weeks later were opened 2 weeks ago? they quite obviously are not even being processed in the order received.....0

This is the email address I used for my complaint: customer.relations@barclays.co.uk. It took a while for them to reply but when they did they compensated me for loss of interest and poor customer service.
Good luck!0 -
I've now had mine opened after about a month. I was on holiday last week, but got a letter dated 15th May saying my account is open, and looking at my A&L account, my cheque was claimed on the 22nd May.
Don't know when they start paying interest on the ISA. Is it the day they opened my account which is the 15th, or the day the cheque is cleared, which would probably be the 23rd.0
