Have you contacted the Uni? I know our local uni has a summer school for foreign students.

    Hi
Having read this thread with great interest, here are some of the things I do.
I knit scarves, sew rice heat bags, aprons, bags etc, this money I save & use for Christmas, I alter curtains.
I sell on ebay, this finances buying the wool for the scarves.
I take in short term lodgers, I used to take foreign students, but found it wasn't worth doing as the pay was approx £12 a day & providing 3 meals a day which included a set packed lunch, left me with very little profit.
I work on a chatline in the evening, but this only makes about £20 a month & this pays for my broadband, though this is partly because I don't work on the chatline at their busiest time which is midnight till 4 as I have to be up at 5.
I also do online surveys, but make very little as I don't often meet their criteria.

  • You could go into business as a fake first time buyer.

Since all my friends and family got wind of me moving into a house I've been donated 3 brand new double beds, 2 lawnmowers (1 petrol and 1 electric), a brand new 3 piece suite, a futon, 3 microwaves (2 new), a new shed, loads of garden plants (ready and waiting), countless sets of cutlery and plates etc, bed linen the list goes on!

    Ebay anyone?

I'll be flogging all my old uni books shortly for the 1st semester early birds!

I've also got some rock music memorabilia and some vintage drum equipment that is gathering dust.

A serious cash cow is storage. Most new builds don't have room for the owner's "stuff" like bikes, most furniture etc - especially apartment owners.

If you have some spare square footage I'd consider renting storage space out in the local rag!

Surely there would be insurance implications to consider
  • Yes to do it legitimately you'd have to have it on your policy that you are using the property for business purposes also....I think!
  • I have just started a second job as a steward at my local football club, the pay is not great (£20 a match) but i usually pay £20 to watch them anyway so in theory i am £40 better off per match because i now get in free and get paid to watch the team i support!

If you go to matches anyway then this is an easy way of getting that bit of extra cash, approx £500 a season based on 25 home games.

I have been working Saturdays now for the past few weeks.

Its great earning an extra £40 a week. I have also started going to the local bootsale, as a huge amount of perfectly good stuff gets thrown in the bins there.

I have managed to sell a few things now, and on average make about £40 a week extra, although have a good stock for a bootsale now.

So im about £300-£350 better off a month! :T :j

Think of earning money as a hobby as it becomes so much easier! :j

I'm very surprised anybody is making any money out of Google AdSense - you have to have a good page ranking and a site worth visting - i.e. some decent content !
