I have been using this thread for some time now and i have made quiet a bit on the side so i just wanted to share what i have done
I enrolled in all the mystery shopping websites and i am doing quiet well and i have made around £1500 in nearly a year.
I have also just started selling usborne books which I love. I get to go and play with my children and make money!!!
I have also started grass cutting for the old people around me which is quiet nice as i feel that i am helping keep our commuinty happy, at a small fee!
and last but not least i am just looking into a magazine for new mothers called small steps which could bring me in £3500 for each addition which i put together
we are also taking our free holiday to florida next year thanks to tescos
I wouldn't have done any of these if I hadn't looked on this website and read other peoples great suggestions so thankyou everyone0 -
Hi Millsmum
Thanks for posting all your ideas and good luck with Usborne. I have been doing it for 8 months and I love it. Best job for me.

Does anyone have any experience with typing up reports / essays etc?
I'm fast and have a little spare time during the day, in addition to my job, and it would suit me well.
I'm not too sure that this sort of thing is required these days though, nor do I have much of a clue where to look to "tout for business"...
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Probably not the right place to post but I am vaguely thinking of going into childminding as a way to earn money and spend time with my kids too. I know I will have to do courses etc, but has anyone any practical advice re how much courses cost and how much I could expect to earn? Thanks :jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Go to your local job centre, they helped me get in touch with the correct departments to arrange the courses, also where i could get grants to help me start up, and as i was a single mum on benefits, they also helped with some of my costs themselves!!!0 -

My wife has been working for the body shop as a work from home consultant and loves it. We have 2 children under the age of 4 that my wife looks after on a daily basis and finds that the 2 parties she currently runs every week helps to bring in an average of £120 per week, and also helps her to retain the adult contact that she has been missing.
The body shop have been very supportive to her and they are very relaxed in their attitude - not hassling and pressurising you all the time like other cosmetic companies I have heard of!
If anybody is interested please drop me a pm and I will get her to put your name forward. As I say there is no pressure to sign up, or sell, sell, sell and you can set your own arms.

Just read quite a few pages of this thread and already got lots of ideas so thanks very much
I currently work fulltime and desperately want to be able to give up work and stay at home with my 3 kids but obviously need to make a bit on the side as I don't want to give up my car plus I've got a couple of debts left which I will still need to budget for.
I've just started doing matched betting although don't think I will make my millions from that cos I'm still not confident enough, do mystery shopping, all the surveys, quidco, pigsback etc etc.
So I'm thinking a part time job ideally in a school (although I know these are few and far between), Doctors surgery or something like that.
I was considering doing Usbourne books but don't know if I'm a good enough seller, are there any Usbourne Organisers out there that can share some advice?
Right, I'm up to page 5 gonna go back and keep reading - thanks for all your tipsDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
I was struggling to keep up with my mortgage, so (under the advice of people here!) I started working at Tescos Monday-Friday 7am-10am. My full-time employer was happy for me to roll in at 10:30 every morning and work through to 6pm, so this fitted in nicely, still leaving me with free evenings and weekends.
I then discovered an advert looking for post-sorters to work early mornings - I applied there and got a 40% pay rise for doing the same hours in a more comfortable environment.
In the meantime, I kept applying for new full-time jobs and after 6 months was offered one with a much higher wage than my previous two jobs combined.
So, thanks to all those efforts in the early days, I now only have to work one job and can afford a bigger house so that I can get lodgers to help pay off the mortgage. I also now have bags more time on my hands to do other things - I'm even working on a new P/T business to launch in early Spring 2008!
Hard work does pay off :-) And, although I've still got a long way to go, it''s getting easier every day.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
