If you can cook then you'll never be short of a few bob! Or if you are green fingered why not try growing a few plants to sell through Country Markets (used to be the old WI but don't let this put you off - men can join too for the princely sum of 5p - a one-off payment!) Country markets are in most towns/villages and charge around 10% commission. I have found this a really useful way of supplementing my income.0

I came across this:
http://www.providentpersonalcredit.com/Pages/AgentRecruitment.aspx
My mum used to do this. You borrow money and pay it back each week to the person who comes knocking. You can be one of the people who does the knocking for the dosh and get paid for it. I don't know how it works but I am going to look into what kind of hours you have to do etc.
Hope it helps someone

Hi, i found this very interesting and have just taken a look at the website. Can you tell me though...is it mainly food produce and plants on sale and are the markets generally well attended. I love to make craft items and this would be an ideal outlet for me.
Anymore information would be much appreciated.Member 105 of 1% at a time - 23/100 :j0 -

All of the Country Markets in my area (Gloucester) do have craft sections - and commission varies, but usually about 10%. Best to get in touch with your local Country Markets and find out. As for attendance, it varies from place to place - but don't expect to make a fortune, and of course you have to take the cost of your materials into consideration.0 -
WSO wrote:Sure, I host my site with Gearhost - I'm on the gold plan and have been with the company since they were still new (back in 2002). Only thing is, the actual amount I pay varies depending on the market but it works out at around £10 a month give or take 50p either way.
http://www.macoman.co.uk/hosting.php and they support everything that you could need MySQL, PHP, etc... multiple email accounts etc
For my input to this thread I sell mobile phones via a white label website (my design but with a providers content, phones, delivery etc), well actually I have 2 white label mobile phone sites with two different providers, I can earn an extra £20 to £200 a month doing this.0 -
To whoever replied to my post as referred to in save-a-lots quotes (I'm assuming the original was deleted as I don't see it)? wrote:WSO wrote:Sure, I host my site with Gearhost - I'm on the gold plan and have been with the company since they were still new (back in 2002). You aren't comparing like with like there and they don't have everything I need - I host on IIS not Apache as I need both ASP and MySQL besides I feel that £10 a month for what I get is good value and I question the quality of a service that offers so much for so little - something has to give eventually...
Like I've said before I've been around the houses when it comes to hosting and have come to the conclusion that your money means too much to the "little guy" so they end up offering shoddy service as a result of an unsustainable pricing model... or too little to the "corporate hosters" who just stick you on a shared server and couldn't care less if the site is operational or if you take your business elsewhere.
£10 a month may be way too expensive to some people - but for a company that supports my rather unusual requirements, has been around for a while and is neither too big to do without my money nor too small to buy the equipment and support they need to maintain the high level of service I recieve when I need it... I'm more than happy to pay my £10 particularly as I know I get it back and more! The only computer error is a human one.0 -
Hi
Fair enough, I too have developed many websites, and also, I too run commercial sites. The host I refer to does offer everything that I personally require, so this is where I was coming from. I was responding to give an alternative to those who were asking the question about hosting - most peoples requirements would not be for dedicated hosting, whereby shared would satisfy.
The host I use is shared, but, saying that they do not over-cram their servers and the service is personal, in that I can email the owner and get a reply within an hour or less, usually instantly. The reason I switched to macoman was because of a recommendation on a business forum. I now have 5 sites hosted on their servers, with never an ounce of a problem.0 -

Hi everyone! I thought I'd try to help others too with more information on Focus Groups. I know it's been mentioned before and some companies are well known in this thread and the referrers thread, but there are some others that are less well known, and hey, this might help a newbie!
