aliwatts wrote:Hi,
Again can anyone enlighten me on the costs of Amazon, was I correct previously, so if yousold a book for say £4.99 what would the overall costs/fees be?
Without getting too complicated if you sell your book for £4.99 Amazon will give you £5.53, this includes what they give you to post the book so if it's a skinny paperback you'll have more profit than if it's a chunky hardback.
All the fees are laid out on the page you see before you click to 'go' so you can see if they all all acceptable to you. Please have a look at my post and the Amazon thread (link above) there are lots of users to hold your hand if you need it!0 -
I'll break all the fees down so you can see how that figure came about
book sells for 4.99 and amazon gives you 2.26 for postage costs (they charge £2.75 to the buyer and keep 49p for 'admin') = 7.25
then
they take 86 pence as a flat fee and 86 pence as a percentage (17.25%) of your books price = 1.72
so £7.25 - £1.72 = £5.530 -
You pay fees to ebay whether or not you sell, it made sense to me and I could see what I was going to receive before I clicked submit. 86p seems a fair bit but where else are you going to get the wide audience they have.0

Not only is it free till the books sold on Amazon you don't have to do a photo and best of all you don't have to write out an outine of what the book is about, you just need to state the condition and add a few other choice words - on ebay you'd have to write at least 3 or 4 lines to 'sell' it, on Amazon, you are riding on the back of their synopsis and even reviews in some cases0 -
Trouble is, if the book you want to sell isn't in their database, you don't seem to be able to sell it.£2 coin savers club: £1.49

I agree, you've no choice then but to put it on ebay.
There is always the possibilty that even if the ISBN doesn't come up in a search you can track it down by searching the author and title, it might be by a different publisher and so long as it's mentioned in your description it will be OK0 -
You can add books to greenmetropolis.com I think, sure I did a few weeks back:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Except when I registered it came up with some error :S
How much do you roughly make per book? £3 but then what does postage cost?0 -
