If it's a 'crumble for grown ups' a dollop of Brandy or Sherry mixed in with the apples livens it up a bit .But do warn the drivers amost your family .0

2-3 medium-sized Sweet cooking apples (1 to 1.5 lb (500 to 750 gm)
4 oz (100 gm) Brown / Demerara sugar
4 oz (100 gm) Self-raising flour
4 oz (100 gm) Soft butter
2 oz (50g) raisins or sultanas as liked
1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon is a nice addition if liked
You will also need a deep 8-10 inch ovenproof baking dishes.
Method
Grease the dish well. Peel, core and chop the apples and arrange on the base of the bowl, add the raisins/sultanas, plus the cinnamon if included.
Sprinkle half the sugar over the fruit, and cover with 2-3 tablespoons of water.
Now in a separate bowl rub together the flour and the butter, to make the "crumble".
You are aiming for a firm consistency that is crummy in texture.
Place this over the apples.
Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the top, and bake in a slow-medium oven for 45 minutes, or until the "crumble" is a golden brown (Gas Mark 3-5, 180-190 C, 350-375 F).

Sounds like a mighty big crumble to me. If you really can't wait, how about halving all of the other quantities? It will still make loads.0

I think you have `overdosed` on the ingredients!
This is from Delia`s crumble recipe:
8 oz plain flour (225 g)
5 oz soft brown sugar (150 g)
3 oz butter at room temp. ( 75 g)
1 level teaspoon baking poweder.
for a nut crumble topping use 6 oz(175 g) wholewheat flour and 3 oz chopped nuts. ( 75 g)You will need to use only 3 oz soft brown sugar(75 g ) with the 3 oz of butter(75 g)
This makes sufficient crumble for a large dish. Enjoy!
You will see I am such an old bat that I still think in imperial!0 -
I wondered if you were going to make a bag of crumble mix for the freezer.
Still worth it with only 200g of butter if you have itchy fingers.0
