Martyn, about that sore throat, I don't know it you're familiar with Merocaine or Dequacaine, but they're really effective over-the-counter anaesthetic lozenges. Talk to your pharmacist about them.

Thanks for that but the way I feel right now, I might see if I can blag some of my dear old dad's liquid morphine

What with being shattered (again) my throat playing up AND I poked myself in the eye earlier on when I came out of the shower, I'm not sure which way to turn at the moment. I just hope the anti-depressants can stop me from slip-sliding back down into the black hole. For the past couple of days, I've felt like the me of 20 years ago so I have no desire to return to being the me of a few weeks ago :cry::cry:

    Man try :D

PENPIN hugs to you, sorry things are c**p.

    Welcome new posters.

No rain here, just very close. Have planted some more seeds and they are in the cold frames. Have used old cardboard egg boxes so I don't have to disturb the roots. Ironing and homework all done, DS in bed and OH just about to go to work. Oh joy, peace and quiet!

    Have a good night all.

Back from a brilliant day at "love music hate racism". very wet for most of the day - we laid one picnic blanket down and held one aove us while we ate - but the music was really good - well I thought so anyway. the girls abandoned me at one point because i was dancing funny apparantly.

Mad dash across london to get dd home in time for dr who which she missed yesterday - got in at 7.59 - phew

dd(22) was left n charge all day so house is an absolute tip - i will have a scream after dr who confidential and we will be living on picnic leftovers all this week.

redruby - the trouble is, when you DO like opera, you lose the ability to understand why most other people DON'T ;):D

I'm a great advocate of the "try something properly, then tell me if you don't like it" philosophy. For me, it's ballet. I have TRIED to appreciate ballet - I've been to maybe 10 to 15 live ballet performances, and I'm currently taking an evening class in beginner's lessons - but when I see a professional performance, though I can appreciate the skill involved, it just doesn't do anything for me. But at least I can say I've tried it.

My brother is never going to like opera. I've taken him to a couple of things. Recently, I even took him to a performance of "Impempe Yomlingo", a fantastic adaptation of "The Magic Flute" by a South African company, and he really loved it as a show, but said he just doesn't enjoy the operatic way of singing. Fair enough...

Martyn, you've got to expect that not every day will be fab. You are being treated for depression after all. Treat the good days as a bonus, and the bad days as something to be got through for the next good day. Hopefully in a little while the good days will become the majority ;)

Edit: jannyannie, thanks for the compliment on the photo :)

    Evening all!

Happy Birthday to Miss Owen :bdaycake:and Mr Natzini :bdaycake: Hope you've both been spoiled rotten :D

Had a really busy day. DS went off to a football tournament (his team won the competition, and he won the penalty shoot out :T :j ) DH jetted off to China for the week, and I collected DD and 4 friends from a scout camp in Derbyshire (4 hour round trip   ). I've just put the WM and BM on and am sitting with a glass of wine and my knitting.

    See you tomorrow, Penny. x
