Jewellery making anyone??

I am so glad I've found this thread. I was just about to pay someone to make my wedding jewellery, but I'd much rather make my own. I'd like to make a pair of those cluster, drop type earrings. Lots of little beads on a chain type thing, and some sort of chunky, bead necklace. Maybe a twist or something that looks like three rows sitting close below one another. Any advice at all?
Please?
If you register on some of the bead forums and go to their galleries it is a great source of inspiration!! I have used bead buddies in the past. Once you work out what you want to make it is easy to buy what you need off ebay etc. There are also some tutorials on u tube. Even if you find piccys i am sure one of us on here will point you in right direction if we can. There is nothing nicer than wearing your own creations.0 -
Hey BOBS, nother bead buddie here *waves*0

I'm dying to try this - my mum and sister in law are into home made jewellery, and i'd love to make them some for xmas/birthdays etc - especially for mum as its her 25th anniversary in June and i'd like to make her something special. I just don't know where to start!
Can anyone suggest anything? I've seen on ebay kits that you can buy! but the thing is I'm the sort of person that needs as many instructions tutorials as possible - i'm a little slow on the uptake lol! can anyone suggest any online tutorials to start me off ???
thanks

Hi Jo_F ..... just had a wee nosey at your wares through your public profile ..... you do some lovely bits!!!
Chillin_nutta ... think I have mentioned on here before but if you to beads by lili website she has done some fab tutorials ... the links on her site take you to u tube where she has posted tutorials. Also gives an idea of what findings you need (the clasps etc on necklaces) to get you started.
My 1st attempt with beading was a rather large order of random beads and wire and off I went .... I just started playing around with them until I found out what I liked. If you dont want to invest in too many tools I got a fab wee set of pliers that did all I needed for about a fiver just to get me started.0 -

Not only is it addictive, but the beads seem to breed at an alarming rate.
I think we all start with a marg tub of beads, and then turn around and find the beads have taken over the house.

Thanks all for the discount code and encouragement. I now have a probably too large order of beads and findings on its way. Get ready for a barrage of questions when it arrives.0
