Sending letter of complaint today to Shabbey!!! Had enough and applied for Virgin Credit Card at better APR of 16.6 and guess what... Instant acceptance and 16 month 0% Balance transfer.. Card will be here for me and the wife in 7 days..... Now thats how its meant to be done..... I sadly bank with Abbey via Cahoot and my mortgage is with Abbey but from next year I will be moving everything elsewhere.. Please please take my advice and stay well clear,, They are the most disorganised and useless Company I have ever has the misfortune to apply to.....
What Virgin card did you go for jody04c? I’m going to move on from Abbey as soon as possible, as I feel very uneasy about the future with them.

I have to agree that they are now disorganised and useless. Such a shame, as we’ve been a customer for thirty-three years, and they used to be very good.

It’s time to cut all my links with them now…
• I know the Abbey Zero card is no longer available but I applied just before the deal was withdrawn and I got my card today.

I am very disappointed with the credit limit I have been given (little over £2,000). I have a limit of nearly 10k on my other credit card which currently has an 8k balance I was hoping to shift onto my new zero card.

Has anyone on here successfully managed to get their limit raised straight away? I did this once with MBNA and I intend to try it when I ring to activate my zero card but was just wondering if anyone had tried this already and if so, how did you get on?

I appealed my initial £8K limit a couple of months ago. I was flatly refused and told to "ask again in 6 months".

A word of warning, the appeal resulted in two additional credit searches so tread carefully.

Thanks for the warning. I'll raise the question when I ring to activate the card and just see how it goes.

After been accepted in June and sending the paper work back heard nothing back from Abbey, In Sept/ Oct rang twice "nothing to worry about" and card would be out in y7 days as there was a back log. Phoned third time to be told I must have "miss understood and that they werent being condescending but am I sure I was told that the card would be sent in 7 days as my application had been abandoned.” After writing to them and complaining about the customer service received a space pen and a with complements card. No letter to explain why it happened or answer any questions I asked them. Santander customer service is horrible and looks like they have passed that on to Abbey. Good luck to anyone who tries to apply, you never know you might just end up with a credit search for no reason and a cheap pen if things go wrong.

I'm just starting the Abbey journey - and it's already fun and frolicks, wish I'd have read some of this thread beforehand, I'd have considered another card!

Applied about 4 weeks ago and had heard absolutely nothing - called to ask what was going on last week and I was told I would hear something from them soon. Called again this morning to be told that the address on my application isn't my address?? It's in the same town but it isn't mine. Hmm.

Here we go...apparently I have to go into a branch to 'see if they can help me'. I'd hope so, considering in my mind they could be sending all sorts of private credit card stuff to a neighbour!

apologies if this has been answered already but please could anyone confirm whether there is a minimum amount that needs to be spent during the 6 months before the dormant card fee of £10 comes into effect

To my knowledge there is no minimum amount, you just need to use the card at least once every siz months.

I am another Abbey Zero user who is less than impressed with the service. I applied online and was accepted with no problems. I was then contacted by them to say that that my address did not match the one they had on record. (I used to hold a current account with Abbey about 5 years ago but left them due to their total incompetence) Therefore I was requested to take some id and a utility bill into my nearest branch which is 12 miles away.

I did this reluctantly asking why this was necessary, all that had happened was that I had moved 2 years ago and why did they need to verify my ID, could I not just be treated as a new customer? No was the predictable reply.

When I made my origial application I requested a balance transfer of around 2K and had left what I considered ample time before my current 0% card deal expired. The problem is, ample time is nowhere near long enough for Abbey. It took 8 weeks for me to get my card despite numerous calls to chase and like some of the others above was told that it was due to heavy demand. When the card eventually arrived I kept checking my other cards balance to see if the BT had gone through but again, no was the predicatable answer. When I queried it a week or so later they said they had no record of me requesting a BT. The company is shambolic and I will be cancelling the card as soon as the 0% period ends and I will never be tempted by any Abbey deal ever again. Please be warned ;)

8 weeks, that's shocking. Defiantly one to avoid
