New card - Abbey Zero
Comments

Hi,
It's the 3rd time I called Abbey to request my Internet ID and password to access the online credit card.
Last week I called Abbey and they said I would receive the code by post.
As I haven't received anything, I called Abbey to request it again and the guy first asked if I called before about it, and he said he couldn't find on the system any prior request!
How can they never issue me a internet code? It's not a complex thing to do!
So I am unable to access my credit card account online. And this Saturday I am thinking of going to HSBC as their systems seem to be mre reliable.
Abbey was to refund me 20 pounds for my Home Insurance and they haven't done after after a month. I got a call and they said they would refund it and nothing yet.
I also have my bank account, saving account and ISA but I am afraid I will have to move to HSBC as the bank is simply unable to give me an internet password!
They said to call back again next week "to see if it works". It's shameful service!0 -
Sounds like a nightmare, I must have been lucky with mine, applied online in July received it within 2 weeks and everything has been hassle free so far.
PS I realise this may sound daft, but what does DS and DH mean?0 -

i have just received the card; i will mainly use it for my trip to abroad..

Yep, £10 fee if you don't use the card at least once every 6 months, according to the new T&C that came into effect on 6th October.
Oh, and they have the right to cancel your card as well if the account goes dormant!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Usually DS = Darling Son and DH = Darling Husband (and DD would be Darling Daughter, except when it means Direct Debit!)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

DH applied for this card online, with a balance transfer and everything went through quickly and without hassle. DD set up for minimum payment and everything has been going fine.
Lulled into a false sense of security, DS applied for a card. No balance transfer, but wanted interest free spending for 6 months. Application goes through, card arrives and all appears fine.
1st statement arrives showing purchases of £1.15, stating this amount will be taken by dd on 1 August. OK. 2nd statement arrives showing £232.14 to be taken on 2 September. DS does not query this, but thankfully because there were credits greater than this, all was ok. 3rd statement arrives, saying £772.71 to be debited on 3 October. DS telephones Abbey and gets me to speak to them. Obviously, there is a problem with the direct debit. I was advised by CS that only £5 would be taken by direct debit in October. I even made a note of the date, and the CS name and the name of her supervisor, thankfully. I was even told that a letter confirming this would be sent. I and DS then promptly forgot about the matter. 4th statement arrives yesterday and what do I see - LATE PAYMENT FEE. Why? Because they took nothing by direct debit in October.
Sounds strange. Had the Direct Debit come out at all prior to October? If there have been any refunds that can replace the DD if it covers the minimum payment. No idea why the DD didn't work in October. That needs to be set-up again if as I assume it has mysteriously cancelled - human error or technical error, that is a mystery. Even then the DD may not take full effect until December if the November due date approached. Abbey's Customer Service team (number a few posts back) should refund that late fee and any subsequent charges as this clearly isn't the fault of yourself or your son.0 -
I've pasted this here from a different thread I started:
About two months ago I called up and was accepted over the phone for an Abbey Zero card. However, even after several calls to chase, I still haven't received the paperwork to sign so I can open the card and transfer my balance. For the two months worth of interest I've paid in the mean time on my existing credit card, I could have done a balance transfer with a different account and paid the transfer fee!!!
Am happy to have the opportunity to vent my frustration here- on the phone they don't have a bloody clue. Everything will always reach me in the next 5 working days. It's cost me 60 quid in interest fees just waiting. I am very very angry.
That is very concerning. All I can advise is to contact CS and when security is passed ask to speak to a supervisor. You shouldn't have to wait anywhere near that long for an agreement. I hope the application is OK apart from that, that will need checking i.e. if it's still being 'tracked'.0 -

Well. I've just rung Abbey to chase up my application for the umpteenth time since July and have just been told that the system has abandoned my application and it is now showing as 'closed'. The guy was really friendly, apologetic and helpful and explained that it hadn't been declined, but was a problem with the credit card system. In his words, "If you still want the card, you'll have to apply again, but I totally understand if you don't want to do that."
I do still want the card, but don't know if I can stand much more of this, so I'm going to take a few deep breaths and some time to think what I'm going to do. Maybe everything will go smoothly next time?0 -
I am livid!!! Just spoke to Abbey ONCE AGAIN and my application has been abandoned because they hadn't heard from me. Apparently my numerous calls asking where my paper work was weren't sufficient. I'm mow about to pay the third month's interest on a balance that I wanted to transfer back in August when I applied for the Abbey card. I want to swear. A lot.0
