Just thought I'd post a few pictures here of our walk today. These are real btw.
Got home about lunch & then DGS had a 2 hour sleep. Must have been that fresh air and sunshine. I finished off my bean bag & prepared tea. He left around 4pm. Just had tea and sitting down with a glass of wine. One more sleep until I see our YS. It's also DH's birthday on Monday so I'll have to organise a family meal on Sunday. I hope they all like lettuce soup.
Tired Mum Hope you are feeling a bit better now.
AnnieBL Our petrol is going up as well. It cost's us $1.50 a litre and set to go higher. That's about 60p a litre for you.
Shez Heard from Mum lately?
Well off for a bit of a surf. Enjoy the rest of your day. Anzac Day was a great success here again this year. It's fantastic that the parades are still well attended and the kids are being taught about it all. We have a lot to be thankful for. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Well folks,
Sorry I missed the early rush. Was finishing a trilogy this morning about Troy, the last book from an author whose works I've kind of grown up with...He died at his computer trying to finish this book, 2 weeks after a life-saving operation. He was in his fifties. I found out that he only started writing when he was diagnosed with cancer in the early eighties and he was determined to write a book before he died. He survived and went on to write 30 books in all and become a leading writer of his genre.
Back to the real world. I wrote my post at about 9am but something came up and I got logged out and the original post was gone....
Teenage rebellion has subsided somewhat and I suspect the grass here has been thoroughly inspected, picked at and been pronounced more green than that of the other side....Apologies were made and efforts around the house have been noted....
Thanks to all for the heartening front-line stories of teenagerdom...was going to look for a forum that specialises in this kind of thing but came realise that we could deal with it pretty well ourselves as long as we remained calm in the face of adversity. I think we just need some reassurance that it's not just us that have this...
I think I've been talked into a camping trip next week so need to go and plan.....
best wishes everyone! For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

Morning :hello:
Am popular at work again as everybody's being fed my latest batch of Twink's hobnobs. They didn't turn out nearly as well as the previous batch - I think they could have done with another couple of mins in the oven - but still yummy
Also made a lovely courgette risotto last night based on this recipe. I emailed the BBC food website to tell them about the conversion error in the ingredients list (for the feta cheese measurements, either the metric is correct or the imperial, but they can't both be)
Now, I know I'm a complete hypocrite for saying this, as I often do the same thing myself, but:mummysaver wrote:dd1 ... is soooo excited about her party on Saturday - not at all old style I'm afraid, she's doing pottery painting at the local pottery cafe, still it's the OS ways that mean we can afford it, just, and it'll be the first time I've paid for a party in years, prob since ds was younger and went bowling. It's yours, you've budgeted hard to make it available, and unless you are actually on the breadline (which I do appreciate some OSers really are, and it can't be easy) there is no reason to deny your family every pleasure just for the sake of being stingy. That's not what life is about. The pottery painting sounds like a lovely thing to do
((((hugs)))) to all who need them, and best of luck Crazychik for your meeting with your dad.
See you later

Bargain Rzl - thank you! I think I'm trying to justify spending the money to myself, these parties aren't cheap  We usually stick up a tent in the garden for them all to sleep in, do bbq for food, jelly and ice cream for pud, then they can mess around in the garden and go in the little pool - waiting for some warm weather to stick back up, note to self, get a heater this year
else we'll end up with hypothermia!
Bismarck - glad you don't feel so alone with your teenagers now! Part of the reason that we live in the middle of nowhere is so that mine can't get up to all the things I used to! Still it's not unheard of for assorted teens (the older ones before anyone thinks we drug them all with alcohol - most of us save that for ourselves!) to be dropped on their doorsteps by locals who've found them having one too many ciders in one of the barns! Do you think cider counts as one of the five a day?!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Rzl - yr my kind of girl! I make cucumber swizzle sticks for our pimms too, an extra portion there then!
Been out in the garden staring at lavender bed, thinking it might be better to plant some stuff we can eat in there too! Really dry and dusty as under the overhang from the sitting room window, so perhaps some herbs, would free up the raised beds a bit as well? Will have to have a looksee on the greenfingered thread.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi all! Just back from shopping and didn't spend as much as I thought I would. I only veered from the list once, to buy plums because they were on offer at 99p a punnet.
Well, so many poorly ones on here. (((Hugs))) to Mr METHERER, STEF and MISS STEF.
AUSSIE - lovely pics.
Well, off to pack away the shopping - the worst bit, I always think!
CAtch you all later.
